Hello everyone, it's TYV0RE. A lot of you know me for No More (MCSM) fanfic, and the rest knows me for my other fanfics such Revelations (Star vs the Forces of Evil), and Dreams of Estorra: a dark update (Aphmau).
It's easy to notice that I haven't uploaded in over half a year. How my stories have ended in cliff-hangers, unfinished arcs, and unanswered questions of the story.
Why did I stop uploading?
It's a long answer, and it has to do with each of my stories - specifically the fandom. More importantly, it has to do with the one question I keep getting asked by my fans, the one question that keeps me up at night.
First lets start with MCSM.
As I've said before in other A/Ns, I wrote No More because I wanted to read a dark story in the MCSM fandom so bad, but I couldn't find one. When I did, it was either: short, had poor grammar, or it was heavily romanced. And I was sick of seeing all of the one-shot books.
So I made the story I wanted to read; dark, gory, with proper plot and grammar. I was determined that one day my story would be the #1 story on the MCSM community here on wattpad.
Then here comes the problem.
When my story was #1 here on the MCSM fandom, and it lasted for a long while, I asked myself: now what? At that time, story had grown so popular that even if my story falls down the rank, all I had to do was upload a chapter and I would become #1 again.
It felt so empty. I lost my motivation for a time because I achieved my personal goal. So, I made a new one: make the fic the longest, with the most reads, and the most votes that exceeds any one-shot book.
But then I did it again - considering my story now has 66.4k reads, and 4k votes, I say I did what I set out to do. It still felt like an empty victory. But the popularity I got attracted some unwanted readers.
No, I'm not talking about the hate-mail - I actually like those, they make me laugh - I'm talking about people who just toxic. I break them down into 5 categories.
1) Advertisement.
They would tell people in the comments to check out their stories, providing links, despite me saying how much I hate that. If not, they would bug my in my PM, asking me to advertise their story so they could get attention.
My fanfic didn't get popular because I hitched a ride on other people's success, I worked hard for it, and I don't like it when people are parasitically using me for their own gain.
2) Copiers
People say that copying is the highest form of flattery.
This is one of the many reasons why I hate people.
It is NOT the highest form of flattery - it's stealing.
I've seen stories where they copy word-for-word text of my story, and then publish it as their own.
I've seen stories where they copy my story, but slightly tweak it in a way so it looks like it is original. I've read versions where the character's genders were swapped, characters dying in place of other characters, and the characters having a different role than originally intended.
I've been getting hate from these copy cats, and their audiences, and I was sick of it.
It may be a fanfic, but it is my version/twist of it. I even put a disclaimer saying I don't own MCSM, and for the cover I am using. There are things that are mine, and some that are not, but I am not going to say all of it is mine.
