chapter 3: the war begins: The next day we were gonna defend the western front in the mud so I said to the commander

"What about the tanks and the artillery? won't they be stuck two?"

In my head I knew that me saying this to the commander. Something bad gonna happen.

commander: stop worrying young lad! The tanks and the artillery is gonna be fine!

That kinda calmed me a little bit ,but I still had that feeling that we are not gonna win this war. could be this be it for humanity?

The next morning we set up the tanks and the artillery units to form a line in the trench. There was so much mud in the trench that it made it hard to fight in it. Up ahead tripods, tripods about the size of the London clock tower and a few smaller ones about the size of a city lamp post. We all put our gas masks on as they got closer to us, than a fellow commander gave the order "fire!" all the artillery fired but it had no effect on the heron, but the spiders went down to some of the tank shots.

As I ran with my group I saw one of the spiders throw a tank like a toy! The spider are fast rather than the herons. every shot we take at the martian heron was like bows and arrows against the lightning. I ran back to the nearby aircraft base and got in my plane and took off! While I was flying trying to shot down the martian heron. I took six shots that the heron turned it's head towards me and stared at me for a little bit than it shook it's head I looked down part of it's leg was shot. Out of the fear I had I shot the heron it had no effect and at that point I knew the earth belonged to the martians

I hear a faint voice "jeremy...JEREMY! I couldn't tell who it was but the voice...I heard it before but I couldn't put my finger on it so I said

"What happened?"

"You've been knocked out from the crash jeremy."

It was a girls voice I could hear. I asked her about the war ,but I was still worried about my friends and family.
