The following short stories are folktales and fables which have been handed down from generation to generation. They preserve the culture and moral values of Ghana in West Africa.
As an individual who is proud of my culture and heritage I am very intrigued to share them with you.
In order to better understand and value these humorous tales there is the need for you to know who Ananse is.
Ananse is the Akan word which translates in English as Spider. Now if you've ever seen a spider, then you have an idea how Ananse looks like but just in case you haven't, Ananse has a big head and stomach but tiny legs.
In these folktales, Ananse is a cunning and selfish character who doesn't mind tricking people to get what he wants. Sometimes he wins and sometimes he doesn't, either these stories were used to teach children how to behave and i hope it teaches you a thing or two as you read.

Love,
Renee.
