confrontation

max sadly walked home by herself.
she wasn't sure why she was so upset.
she herself had told eleven to go with mike.

"hey." billy greets max as she enters.

max ignores billy and begins to walk upstairs.

"woah, what's wrong?" billy asks.
"nothing." max rolls her eyes.
"did those girls do something again?" billy asks, worried for his younger sister.
"no, billy. they weren't even at school today." max answers.
"if they do, make sure to tell me." billy says sternly.
"yeah, yeah." max sighs as she goes back to walking upstairs.

she opens the door to her room but is stopped by maya talking to her.

"why are you so grumpy? got into another fight?" maya grins.
"no, shut up. why do you care anyway?" max narrows her eyes.
"i don't." maya laughs.
"then for once in your life stop bothering me!" max snaps in frustration.

max angrily walks into her room and slams the door.
she was acting childish but she didn't care.
maya stands still, shocked before knocking on her door.

"what do you want?" max groans.
"can you let me in?" maya begs.

max hesitantly lets maya in before sitting back on the bed.

"i didn't mean to upset you, okay?" maya sighs.
"yeah you never meant to upset me. then why do you do it all time?" max rolls her eyes.

maya wants to answer but she doesn't know herself.
she knows she will regret what she asks next but she asks anyway.

"can we talk about what happened to you at school yesterday?" maya says quietly.
"what?" is all max can say.

she's confused by her sisters actions.

"i know im mean to you sometimes but no matter what, your my sister and if anyone touches you, they will personally get an ass beating by me. and billy." maya smiles.

max still stares at maya with confusion.
who is this woman and what has she done with the irritating and arrogant maya?

"okay?" max raises her eyebrow.
"so can we talk?" maya asks again.

max thinks for a while before finally nodding.

maya takes a seat beside max and waits for her to start talking.

"well, i don't know where to start." max plays with her fingers.
"just tell me what lead up to the fight."

max tells maya about everything that happened. how eleven and max took the day off due to accidentally sleeping in and now people started rumours about it.

"wow." maya's mouth was wide open by the time max was finished her story. "i'm surprised you stood up like that."
"iam too. just don't tell billy or anyone about what happened." max stares daggers into maya.

maya gulps.

"i won't. but why won't you tell billy? he's not going to get mad or anything."
"i know but i don't want anyone hearing about the rumours. they really bother me." max sighs.
"well, it's safe with me." maya gives max a warm smile.
"i hope so."

max still doesn't trust maya but it felt good to tell someone the truth.
she's surprised she even opened up to maya before she would to billy.
