-he was born in Abeno-ku, Osaka, Japan but moved to Tennoji-ku, Osaka, Japan when he was 1 years old

-his great grandmother (born 1923) from his mother's side was Korean and taken to Ikuno-ku, Osaka, Japan (1938) where she met his great grandfather who was a Japanese man and they got married. Their daughter (Kangmin's grandma born 1946) married a Korean man from Seoul in the mid 60's then their daughter (his mum born 1969) married his dad. Meanwhile his dad (born 1967) is fully Japanese from Abeno-ku, Osaka

-his great grandmother was born in 1923 in Pyongyang and his grandfather was born 1942 in from Seoul but moved to Japan in 1949 before the Korean War broke out

-Nickname: Husky, Osaka's prince, supreme boy.

- His childhood nickname was Miyatoshi, it's a combination of his birth name- Yasushisatoshi and his surname- Miyamoto

-he loves bubble tea and says he has a slight obsession with it

-as a child Kangmin's parents hired two private foreign teachers to teach him both English And Chinese

-he was a JYP trainee but then transferred to big hit in late 2010

-he started training in January 2007 at the age of 14 after he was scouted by JYP

-he was cast by jyp while eating lunch at a friend's house

-his total training period was 6 years

- even after being transferred to big hit kangmin was still close to his trainee friends in JYP and also made some other trainee friends as well. JYP ent allowed him to visit at times after his transfer since he transferred since JYP and bing hit needed more trainees and at first he didn't exactly want to go.

- he is childhood friends with Minatozaki Sana from Twice, they were next door neighbours in Osaka, their parents are also really close.

-some of the trainees/idols from JYP he was/is close with despite his transfer were Twice But mostly close with Sana out of all the members (as they are childhood friends, he considers her his little sister), Mark, JB & Jinyoung from Got7 and 2PM's Ok Taecyeon & Nichkhun. He is also friends with Jay Park

-at first his parents didn't want him to go to Korea to become an idol but later let him go

-during his childhood Kangmin was in a competitive swimming team and had started swimming lessons at a young age, right before he was scouted he was training for the Olympic team of Japan 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing, China

-as well as doing competitive swimming Kangmin was also part of the Osaka branch of EXPG dance academy for 2 years and 3 months which is how he got cast by a JYP scout that advised him to do a global audition

-Kangmin has a 3rd Dan in Aikido and a 4th Dan kendo (Japanese sword fighting)

-he grew up doing Aikido because his father is an Aikido sensei and holds a 7th dan rank position while his mother is a competitive swimming instructor and is a former Olympic 100 m freestyle silver medalist in the 1984 Olympics with her time being 55.95 and bronze medalist in the 1988 Olympics while tied with Catherine Plewinski from France at 55.49.

-he loves to eat street foods

-personality: cheerful and optimistic, not shy at all and laughs at himself when he gets things wrong. He also likes to tease people

-his favorite thing about traveling the world is experiencing new cultures and foods

-Taehyun was able to make Kangmin listen to trot once, now kangmin loves it and they listen to it together
