i do not need the kind of love
that is draining
i want someone
who energizes me

my crush on tanaka only grew as i got to know him more. for awhile our friendship was only words, and it was only after i started to get more confident that it turned into very innocent flirting.
innocent flirting quickly became something completely different which eventually lead to me and tanaka getting together. i couldn't tell you how many times nishinoya crashed our dates, but it was always a lot of fun with the pair of them.
tanaka was wild, and he always spoke about what he wanted. he was crazy, but he was my crazy. i would spend my after hours at school watching his practices cheering the team on- though it was usually tanaka i cheered for most, per his request.
it was no secret that tanaka was a fan of junk food, especially popsicles, so one day after practice i decided popsicles sounded like a good idea.
"ryú, lets go get some popsicles." i smile, grabbing at his hand before they softly intertwined.
"sure," he responded, leaning down to kiss my forehead. as much of a tough guy as tanaka appeared, he was really just a big teddy bear. "why the sudden stop?"
"i want to hang out with you, isn't that enough?" i laugh, smiling as i watch him slightly blush.
"then let's go!" he announces, pressing his body against his legs before going in between mine, successfully giving me a piggy back.
"put me down you bully!" i chuckle, tapping his shoulder gently. he pretends to not hear me, taking off down the street.
we both buy our popsicles, all the while i'm still on his back. the cashier looks at us goofily, but we didn't mind. we were "young and in love" as coach yukai commonly said.
it wasn't till we were both almost done our popsicles that we said something. and i was very very happy i suggested popsicles that night.
"hey," tanaka says, a serious expression on his face. i almost flinch, but i know it's not bad, he's safe.
"hey," i smile, hesitantly intertwining our hands together.
"i've been scared to say this for awhile, but i think tonight is right." he looks at me, and i'm encased. his sweet blueish grey eyes have me trapped, i'm stuck and i'm not sure i want to leave. "i think i love you."
and i've never wanted to hear those words more. a grin falls across my lips, before i'm tackling him, pulling him into a hug- and "accidentally" getting my popsicle all over him.
"i love you ryú."
"how dare you get popsicles without me tanaka!" it's noya, of course it's noya. when is it not noya.
