The Inquisitor

I saved three souls today
from Satan's grasp,
three souls from burning hell
and guided by our great God's hand,
I did my task quite well.

Lost, misguided, led astray
by heretics and lies,
they confessed to me
and I set them free
despite their pointless cries.

They did not all confess at first
and did not understand
that I was there to help them back
as God's accusing hand.

It brought no joy
to hear them scream,
the joy came from the knowing,
that holy pain
in God's great name,
keeps Satan's lies from growing.

Confessed at last the trio cried
and begged our Lord's forgiveness,
which lovingly I offered them
now that their sins were clear,
as in God's grace,
they left this place
for punishment's desire
and stepped upon the twigs and straw
to be consumed by fire.

I saved three souls today
from Satan's grasp,
three souls from burning hell
and guided by our great God's hand,
I did my task quite well.
