Nine

شكوت الی وكيع بسوء حفظي
فاوصاني إلى ترك المعاصي
فان العلم نور من الهي
و نور الله لا يعطى لعاصي

I complained to Imam Wak'ī about my poor memory
He advised me to abstain from sins
For this knowledge is light from Allah
And the light of Allah is not bestowed upon a sinner.

A poem that every seeker of knowledge should read, memorize, and remind themselves of constantly, for although concise, it contains much wisdom.

Note: I've come across this poem with different wordings (but same gist), but I chose to write the first narration I ever came across.
