I woke up to the sound of my ringtone going off, I reach to grab my phone and answer without looking at who the caller is

"Hello?" I say in my groggy morning voice

"Dawn? Sweetie its Mary, did I wake you?"

I look over at my owl wall clock

9:00am

"Ermmm... no..." I sit up and throw my legs over the edge of the bed where they are now dangling

"Ok...well... I need a favor."

"Anything Mrs. Parker."

"Well... you know today is the big day..." She says with a shaky voice

I don't respond

"We need you to bring something sentimental of Candice's, so you can leave with her. Something that was close to the both of you."

Now there is silence on both ends

I look over at the picture of us on the top of the mountain, just smiling, being happy, I have pretty much forgotten what it is like to be happy now...

I sigh

"Is this really happening?" I ask, hoping shed say no

"I know Hun, but we will have everyone that loved her and that she loved surrounding us, if there is something that I know most certainly about my daughter it's that she wouldn't want us to stop our lives, she would want us to continue it, she will always be in our hearts and she will always be your best friend. We all need each other right now."

I know it must've killed her to say that

"I'll make sure to bring something, even though I don't want to get rid of anything, I know that it's what she would want."

We say our goodbyes and hang up

I gather up some strength and make my way to the bathroom, I turn on the shower and wait for it to heat up. I look at the sink and see how different it looks without her things here, everything looks and feels so empty. While waiting for the shower, I throw my hair in a bun and I start to brush my teeth and wash my face. Candice would always tease me for doing this, she says I do things backwards, she used to hide my tooth brush sometimes and claim she had no idea where it was, just to throw me off and afterwards it would suddenly appear.

I take off my clothes and hop in the shower, I let the hot water just run down my back, my mind goes blank a lot when I'm in the shower, I don't think about anything.

I don't feel anything.

I just stare at the wall.

I finish washing up and wrap myself in a towel, I go back into my room and into my closet looking for the right outfit

I grab my navy blue dress with a flower lace pattern on the chest area, I slip that on and make my way over to my desk that has a mirror on it. I pick up my makeup bag and zip it open looking back up to the mirror...

"Dawn I don't understand why you insist on wearing so much makeup." Candice tells me while she watched herself trying to fit into her jeans through the mirror

"And I don't understand why you insist on wearing jeans that you can barely fit into."

She gives me a face and grabs the mascara out of my hand

"If anyone needs this, it is me." She sticks her tongue at me and applies the mascara on her eyes

"Oh please Candice, you are flawless, you have perfect skin, your green eyes pop with your light brown hair, so you don't need any makeup. I need it because I'm not as blessed as you are, so give it back please" I hold my hand out
