"You make me believe in a world I never thought possible," Krem whispers into the chilled night air.

And under the sky's blanket of quiet she looks to him. Notices the clench to his jaw and the unending intensity of his eyes. She smiles. Reaches for him like he is the last good thing she could ever touch in this life.

His skin is cold and rough, knuckles ridged when the pad of her thumb runs over them. His body is a mapped expansion of all the wars he has fought to bring him to her tonight. She doesn't speak.

And he turns to her when it becomes too much, searching her face for something she thinks she only sort of understands. When he leans in, she lets him.
