Needletail floated beside Bill.
"And then, there's Thunderclan. They're a bunch of goody paws that stick their noses in other clans' business." Needletail hissed.
"Ha. Don't I do that to you?" He pointed out.
Needletail purred. "I'm fine with you doing it." She smiled.
Bill winked.
Needletail looked away and blushed.
Ugh... stop blushing!
"Well, I mean, you don't have a nose, so...." She countered.
Bill rolled his eye. "Yeah, sure."
Needletail looked ahead of her.
"I need to find Tree." She announced.
"Took you long enough." Bill scoffed teasingly.
She sighed. "I know where to g-" Suddenly, the ground fell from under her. Prey scents swarmed her, and she looked at her paws.
They were seethrough.
She looked ahead and saw tree stalking a mouse.
"Psst! Tree! It's me, Needletail!" She hissed.
Tree whipped around. "Woah, what happened to you?" He asked.
Needletail looked deeply saddened as she saw his distraught face.
"Your..."
Needletail looked away.
"What happened?"
Needletail lifted her head.
"Needletail...How did you die?" He asked, concern painted on his face.
Needletail sighed.
"Darktail killed me."
Tree tipped his head, his yellow fur flattened.
"Darktail? Who's Darktail?" He inquired.
"A vicious cat. He slashed my throat and I drowned in the lake." Needletail explained, shifting her paws.
"Oh no." Tree looked appalled.
Needletail remembered when she had drowned and woken up in the void.
And now...
She looked at Tree.
"I'll be around often."
Tree nodded.
"You know that, don't you?"
Tree sighed. "Being borne to a mother that can see dead cats' kind of sets that up for you." Tree tipped his head awkwardly.
Needletail ached to say me when darkness began to swallow tree, and the forest around her. She felt herself lift from the ground as darkness surrounded her.
Then, blue splotched her vision.
She was back in the void.
