UNCERTAIN FRIENDSHIPS {Editing}

Surprise 🎉

"Adams?!... So about what I wanted to discuss... " I trailed, at least I caught his attention as he sat up straight all attention on me.

"You just wanted to steer me away from the library, to hatch your plan " he said with a stoic face

How does he do it? How can he read my mind so well? Well I can't let him win, Lucy is counting on me!!!

"Well if I didn't know better, I would assume, you think I like you right?" I say as I inch closer to him, he seemed surprised by my new behaviour but quickly got over it as he began inching closer, *scoff* is it this easy?

"You wanna know what I think
Adams?" I asked still trying to sound as real as possible or was this really my inner mind talking right now?

He gave a slight nod, probably waiting for the not so obvious-obvious answer "alright, since you're so eager, could you do me a favor by "closing your eyes"?" I said as I batter my lashes

gosh I hope this works! It has to!

He did what I requested, closing his eyes waiting for a non existent reply, Lucy should have heard the words by now! What's she up to?

I looked around slowly beginning to panic, ARE THEY DITCHING ME?

Adams was getting impatient "I'm still waiting for a reply!"

"Um.. My answer is-"

"SURPRISE!!!!" I heard behind me with relief washing over me, I looked behind and saw Lucy, Jason and A-manda closing in with a cake and some gifts

How did they manage to get a cake within school hours?  What's with the gifts? Great now he'll think I didn't remember to bring anything for him, ugh!

Immediately they said surprise!, Adams eyes had bolted open, he looked at me suspiciously making me nervous before his once thin lined lips broaden with a big grin phew 😌

"This was your plan all along wasn't it?" He murmured enough for me to hear him to which I nervously grinned and raised my hands slightly in a shrug but never any words.

"So about your fe-" he was cut short thankfully by Lucy who hugged him so tight I almost felt something churn inside of me, "Adams!! We're sorry if you thought we forgot about your birthday-" she looked back towards Jason and Amanda as if forcing a confirmation from them, and I was right as they hurriedly spoke :" You're right! Absolutely!" To which she nodded to and turned her attention towards Adams again.

"-are we forgiven?" she asked while giving the best(worst in my book, she sucked at this) puppy dog eyes with a slight whimper.

"Sure! You're all my friends after all" he said putting his hand behind his head and smiling nervously " and I am sorry for running away like that!"

"Awn, you're forgiven, isn't that right, Katie?"she asked now attention drawn to me

I hate being in the spotlight, Lucy you're gonna pay for this later.

"Hmm?" I feigned ignorance

"Don't you toy with me girl, you heard what I said earlier" she said with a smirk and going all innocent look at the same time

I kept silent, I won't let her win this

"Anyways we are meeting at your place Adams, for a real party, be expecting us" Lucy said with a wink heading my way.

She moved closer to me and whispered into my ears something surprising

"Oh no I won't, It's not like that" I tried my best to whisper back without alerting others of my panic as my eyes darted towards Adams.

"Are you sure about that?, you'll have to do it though" She said with a smug look

"You gotta be kidding me, that's so uncalled for Lucy!, why would I do that? And besides nothing will be attached to it, even if I actually do it" I said crossing my arms trying to stable my crumbling walls which was on the verge of falling anytime soon.

Is this a thing with friends? Favors?

"So will you? Please! It's a one time thing except you wanna go for it at your leisure, I'm cool with it" she clasped her hands together giving that awfully bad excuse of a puppy dog eyes she definitely needs a coaching on this, not that I am good with it anyways but hers is just ridiculous and kinda funny too

"Why the smile on your lips?Or is it the favor I requested ?" She asked with her usual smirk

"What? Of course not! Your face is the one that's funny, and stop mocking me with your favor, I might just decline if you keep this up" I said raising my chin higher than usual feigning annoyance 

"That means you accept, I knew you would, see you at the party then" she nudged me in the ribs with a wink before meeting the others who seemed to secretly discuss something before waving our way and leaving

"Wait!!-" I called

"You can't seem to get tired of our company, huh bestie? Or you need more tasks?" she raised her eyebrows suggestively

I deadpanned 😑 seriously you tell me to meet up at a party I clearly didn't know about and now the favor I'm clearly still deliberating on , WHAT ABOUT THE TIME? just because I live next door doesn't mean I shouldn't be alerted of the time!!

"The time Lucy!" I tried to be as calm saying this

"Oops my bad, It's 5pm, hope to see you there, *gasp* who am I kidding? YOU LIVE NEXT DOOR!! Well you better hurry up, we wouldn't want to skip more classes today"

I totally forgot, class! This surprise thing really took our time, damn you Adams, you just had to run away and I had to care to search for you! Why would I do such a thing, my mom is gonna freak when she hears I'm skipping classes 😬

"COMING!" As I hurriedly caught up with her on our way to History class
Boring!

Never in my life have I wished to stay in class all day, I wanted so bad not to go home today and to that PARTY, but I have to as the chauffeur stood awaiting my exit from the school premises

"Bye guys! See you at the party(?)" I reluctantly replied, more of a question than a statement

This better be much fun than how It's playing in my head
