An Artemis' Mistake?

Chapter 19

Today is Friday, the day before the ceremony. However, today I am not focusing on that, I have somewhere to be.

"Kat! Are you ready? We will get late to the game!"

"Calm down, Rose, we are always late for everything, this won't be different, not even if we try."

"True, family curse, but come on!! I want good seats."

"I'm ready!"

"Wait, I forgot my phone."

"Rose, weren't you screaming at me for 5 minutes to speed up? Who is holding us back now?"

"Sorry, sorry, now I'm ready."

We finally direct ourselves toward the school. Today our school's football team is playing a final of something, I don't really get it, but Rick is playing so I have to be there, or so I'm told.

When we get there, the parking lot of the university is overflowing, and I unconsciously look for Aiden's ride. He's probably not even here, this is, definitely, not his scene.

Well it really isn't our scene either, we are here.

We are here for Richard, Lua.

This past week Lua has been super sarcastic, I think she is angry because of the recent space between us and Aiden, but it's not my fault, I talked to him and said that it isn't necessary for him to distance himself, specially from the friends he found in Adam and Chris. Nonetheless, he said it was the best for him even though Blaze hated the idea.

There wasn't much I could've done, he made up his mind about this.

Lua doesn't even sound excited about seeing Richard again after so long, it's ridiculous.

As we get closer to the entrance, we see Adam and Chris waiting for us.

"Hey, where's Ella?"

"She couldn't come, her mother needed her for something, but I have the feeling she just didn't want to come, she hates this 'gatherings', as she calls it."

"Very possible, I would rather be at home too."

"Come on, Kat. Let's see your man."

"Kat, I'll catch up to you, I have to go to the bathroom."

"You were so excited to enter and now you're stalling?"

"I just need to pee."

"Fine, see you inside."

We find our seats as the game was about to start, the teams enter the field and I see Richard immediately.

He looks up to me and smiles, making the butterflies in my stomach come alive. I didn't want to come today, but now that I saw him, I wouldn't rather be anywhere else.

By the end of the first quarter of the game, Rose finally shows up and she doesn't look happy at all.

"Rose, what happened?"

"Nothing."

"Were you crying?" I bet that is has to do with that boy she likes or something, if I found the asshole that made my sister cry.

"No."

"Rose."

"I..." She starts but tears begin to fall.

"Oh Rose..." I hug her as she tries to control her emotions, I do my best to shield her from curious eyes.

"Kat...I...I-"

"It's about that guy? The one you like?"

She just nods.

"What happened?" I repeat my question, she has to tell me this time.
