ALPHA KING'S POV

I was adjusting my tie when my father dearest barged into my wing. "ORIEF REI VADEUS", you were supposed to be in the hall 2 bloody hours ago. Your Mom will kill me if you don't come down now. "

I rolled my eyes at my father's rant and continued fiddling with my tie. I heard footsteps stopping outside my closet door. The knob twisted and my dad peeked in, a slightly feared expression on his face, which was definitely the result of my mom's threats.

"Come down quick son." My father urged. Who will believe that the 6'6 man standing behind me was the former King of the world's strongest race? I know, no one will. But he is so in love with my mom, his mate, that he will do anything for her. I always admired their relationship, but I couldn't imagine myself in my father's place.

I have always been a person who loved my privacy, I don't share, I don't trust people easily, I don't give until it comes to my people and I certainly don't like to talk much. And I think these are all the things needed for a stable relationship.

Communication. Sharing. Trust. Compromise. Care.

And I have none of it. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

I usually don't think about finding my mate. But seeing that it is going to happen when I reach downstairs, it's given. I quickly tried to divert my thoughts, but my father has already understood my line of thought.

"Son, you need to do it. It's high time you give this Kingdom a Luna. You can't handle everything on your own. You can't provide your Kingdom with sympathy, care, and love. Only a Luna can. You know this better than anyone." My father explained, gently patting my shoulder.

"I know Dad, let's get this over with. But I would like to remind you what I said earlier. I wouldn't accept her as my mate just like that." I reminded him of my condition and started making my way downstairs.

My father sighed at my stubbornness but followed me nevertheless. Today is the day I select/find my mate and give my people a queen. Down there in the castle halls, all the unmated females are gathered for me.

ME. Alpha KingOrief Rei Vadeus. A 29 years old, brooding king. A king who can give them nothing but responsibilities.

I was in the middle of making it to the hall when I ran into my brother. My Gamma. Huxx Vadeus. He was dressed in a different kind of tuxedo than my father but anyone can tell that he looked like a spitting image of him, just a few years younger.

"Hurry Up, big bro Mum's very upset with you right now. Here take these flowers so you can apologize better." He said, thrusting a simple bouquet of dahlia into my hands.

Dahlia. Mum's favourite flowers. It's often my father's last resort to appeal to her.

Sigh, seems like I am in for a good lecture by my mum after all this is over. You would believe that being a king no one would question you. No, it's not like that. Whether you are king or god or anything your Mom will always scold you. But a secret, we children love it.

I, all but sprinted to her after that. And I was greeted by the site of my mom, Virigeum Vadeus, chit-chatting with people near the entrance of the hall. Her head whipped towards me and she quickly excused herself from the couple she was talking with and walked up to me.

"ORIEF WHERE WERE YOU?" She yelled at me through the mind link.

"Mum there was a rouge attack at the border of the Moonshine pack and they wanted to consult me on what to do with the captured wolves. I had to deal with them along with the council." I replied.

The expression on her face quickly turned from annoyed to concern. "Is everything alright now?" She asked after schooling her expression to a smile since she didn't want to agitate anyone around her. I nodded.

"You should take a look around the hall, son. Did you feel her yet?" My mother asked reminding me why I am there.

".........No, I don't."

At my answer, my Mum's face fell. Despite knowing that if I didn't feel her now, I wouldn't catch her even if I enter the hall, my mum forced me to take a full tour of the hall and talk to every maiden present there. It was hell. But when none of them turned her, I got disappointed and so did my family. I can't see the sorrowful faces of these women and their parent's parents anymore. So I announced the end of the ball and slowly everyone was escorted out of the hall by my guards.

As everyone left, bidding us farewells, only me and my family were left in the hall. I risked a glance at my mum and she was on the verge of tears, it pained me to see her in so much distress.

"Mum I will go around the castle once; maybe she arrived but didn't make it to the halls." I tried to console her.

Her face glimmered with hope. "I will also come with you." Mum insisted and I couldn't say no to her.

That is how my brother, my mom and I ended up going around the whole castle grounds at 10 at night. After every corridor, my mum's face kept losing colour and my brother was frustrated. It was when we reached the parking space in the castle's back that a strong scent hit me. At first, I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me. But my instinct urged me to take another lungful of air to clear the confusion and it was confirmed that my mate indeed was here, she just didn't reach the halls.

Mum and my brother were alerted by my behaviour. "She was here," I told and both of their moods flipped 360°.

"I am so happy for you my son, we just now we just have to find who she is?" Mum exclaimed a look of pure joy on her face.

"No need to find her! I know who she is." Huxx's voice came from somewhere behind me and I immediately turned my head to look at him. "Who is she?" Mum asked, urgency lacing her voice.

"Luna Felix."
