Chapter 6

Soulver Meets The Gang

Soulver's POV:

Seeing Nick with the Night Fury known as Toothless, I couldn't help but feel both happy and slightly hurt. The way they interacted after Nick forgave him, it reminded-

"They look so peaceful, don't they?" Hiccup interrupted my thoughts while looking cheerfully at me. All I did was look at him with an annoyed glance before turning my gaze to the ocean. The clear, deep blue ocean looked so peaceful. Looking back at the group, I looked at the nadder that has been quiet this entire time.

Hiccup continues speaking, "You really care about Nick, don't you Soulver?"

Glancing over at Hiccup before looking at the ocean again, "... I am. He's found and forgave his father."

Hiccup chuckles before giving a hearty laugh. I just looked at him as if he lost it. "You do realize that you don't have to stop being Nick's father right? It just means he has two fathers who both love him now. It doesn't make him love you any less."

To showcase his point, Hiccup pointed to Nick who was mumbling, "Father... Father, where are you?" and a confused Toothless; who despite his attempts to soothe young Nick, was unsuccessful. Hiccup smiles before walking over to Toothless and whispering something into his ear. Toothless nodded and walks over to me.

"He keeps asking for his father... but I don't think he means me. I think he wants to sleep with you for the night."

Toothless hands Nick to me gently in my claws, and immediately Nick stops mumbling and curls up against my scales as I held him close.

Toothless smiles and says, "You know, despite me being his biological father, I think he sees you as more of a father to him than me."

Nick snuggles closer to my side, sighing while smiling before breathing lightly indicating that he has fallen asleep again.

Looking up at the two, I felt like something was about to come up. Something inconvenient for me most likely.

Seeing Astrid walking up to Hiccup from behind, she placed a hand on his right shoulder before starting, "You do know you'll have to bring him-" jerking her head towards me as if to emphasize who "-along then? He and Nick can't exactly stay here, it's not an ideal place to grow a hatchling. Especially if it's a nightlight."

Still not speaking my thoughts out for I didn't trust them yet; only Toothless for he's young Nick's father, I couldn't help but snort.

You think I didn't know that young Valkyrie?

Seeing what she meant, Hiccup placed a finger on his chin in thought, "Your right, the islands both too small and too isolated from any fishing areas. Plus, it wouldn't be ideal for us either; it took us an entire day to get from Berk to here."

Hiccup just looked at me, a hidden joy and curiosity behind his eyes. I just looked at him, he seems too cheerful looking.

"Soulver, do you want to come with us back to Berk? It'll be the best for Nick; it has everything he needs."

I would have said no without hesitation if it wasn't for what he said after it. I just glares at him for pulling 'it'll be best for Nick' card. Then again, Nick needs to know his family too. His real family.

I know I can't keep Nick from this, much as I despise the idea myself of going; Nick needs it.

Turning my glare into a soft stare, "...Fine. I'll come with you-" Hiccup looked completely excited after I said that, yet I wasn't done, "-but on one condition."
