The next night at dinner Eric stood up with his wine glass and declared he had an announcement. He paused for a while, knowing it was too late to back out but still being terrified. "Well, spit it out kid," his dad said to him from the opposite end of the table.

Grimsby leaned over to Eric and grabbed the hand at Eric's side. "You don't have to do this," he whispered.

"No, PB, I do," he said to his newly rediscovered partner. "Dad, I'm gay."

"That's your announcement?"

"Well, yea. It's kind of a big deal. Are you upset with me?" Eric asked.

Eric's father chucked to himself and could also hear the faint laughter of his deceased mother. The reaction could have been a lot worse. "Kid, I know. The whole town knows. It's okay."

Eric sat back down and they continued there typical talk at dinner, and that was the end of the conversation. Eric's head spun. How did he know? Was it that obvious? Was I too loud the night before? Regardless, he's glad he admitted to his truth.
