Religion vs Witchcraft

A common misconception in witchcraft is the difference between religion and the craft. For starters let's make a couple of things clear. Witchcraft is not a religion!!! I cannot stress that enough. Also you cannot be a Wicca. You can be a Wiccan, but not a Wicca.

Ok now that that's over and done with back to the religion part. You can be any religion and be a witch.

You don't have to be Pagan, nor do you have to be Wiccan. You can even be Christian and be a witch. Like I said you can be any religion to be a witch.

Edit: Why this is true, certain religions and practices are CLOSED. By that I mean these are religions and practices that you are born into or initiated into, this is not gatekeeping. Examples are Palo, Voudou, Brujeria, etc. Also certain words/vocabulary as well ex. smudging is a Native American thing, and is not something just to do if you're not Native American. There is a difference between that and smoke cleansing.
