Ashton

I stormed out of the house as fast as I could just to get away from him. He's my best friend and nothing will ever change that but the fact that he smoked upsets me so much. Never in his life has he picked up a cigarette, so what suddenly made him choose to do it now.

I walked down the block while avoiding all of the strange glares that people were giving me. Yeah, I'm walking really fast, so what, don't act like you've never seen it before people. They probably thought that I stole something and was running so that I didn't get caught. Oh well.

The streets started to get more and more crowded the farther I went and unfortunately, I didn't want to stop. I just wanted to get away from Luke for a while because I'm honestly really irritated with him.

Like out of nowhere, he just casually decided to say that he was going to leave and where in the hell did he get those things anyways? I wonder if he secretly carries them inside of his pockets or something or if he keeps them somewhere hidden.

Fuck it, I'll find out later. I glanced around and noticed that there was a store open for halloween costumes. Since tonight is halloween and Luke and I always do something, I decided to get in line so that way, we don't miss out on getting any candy.

A lot of people try to tell me that its ridiculous to be twenty and still want to go trick or treating, but whatever. I can do what I want and I can act like a "kid" or a "teenager" if I want. Besides, Luke is only eighteen and he needs someone to go with.

After I snapped out of my thoughts, I realized that I was now at the front of the line. Wow, I guess time really does make a difference when you're thinking. Its like you're not paying attention to anything because you're so caught up in your mind.

I scattered through the store and honesty, I was amazed. Last year, they didn't have a single costume that interested me. That was until I decided to be Robin and Luke chose to be batman. We had a blast last year and I hope we have fun again tomorrow, but we probably won't if we don't have costumes.

I continued to scan the aisles until I finally found some things. I found a Mario costume and it reminded me of the times that Luke and I used to play "Mario Smash Bros" together and he would always beat me in every single round.

I wanted to be Luigi, but unfortunately I remembered that was Calum's costume, so I just picked out the Mario outfit for Luke and a plain and simple skeleton costume for me.

I walked towards the check out counter and noticed a boy standing there with a miniature hat on his head. "Hi, welcome to Spirit, how can I help you?" I put the two costumes on top of the counter and he looked for the price tags and began to scan them.

"Is that all for today?" He questioned, bagging the items. I shook my head and pulled out my credit card while waiting for the total to come up on the register. "Are you going trick or treating tonight?"

I cocked an eyebrow but smiled because he's being friendly and the least I could do is return the favor. "Yeah, my best friend and I are going just like we do every year. Are you?" He sighed and shook his head, "No, I have to work."

The boy handed me my bags and I gave him a look of pity. "I'm sorry, but hey on the bright side, you're making money, but I better get going so thanks, um.."

"Khalil," He finished for me, and I smiled, saying, "I'm Ashton, see you around Khalil." I picked up the bag and as I walked out, I heard him shout "Bye Ashton!"

-

"Luke, I'm back."

I didn't get an answer or anything, just complete silence. So, I just sighed in annoyance and set the bag down on the end table by the door. "I missed you."
