Ashton's P.O.V
Those words he said were ringing inside of my head, over and over again. There are so many people in this world, so many that why would one person like me, specifically Luke? I mean, Luke is a great guy and all but I like girls.
"What?" I questioned, still stuck on what Khalil previously said to me that caught me off guard.
"Dude, how many times do I have to break it to you? He likes you."
No he doesn't, he's wrong. Luke likes girls just like me and he always has. If he was gay, then he would've told me. I'm not homophobic at all, in fact I love gays. However, Luke isn't and I know my best friend more than Khalil does.
"I'm not following," I replied, crossing my arms while tapping my finger against my skin. Khalil sighed and placed his hands in his face, shaking his head repeatedly.
"I'm not going to keep telling you this, Ashton. He wouldn't have gotten so angry that you kissed him if he didn't have a thing for you. Trust me, I know a gay guy when I see one, because I'm gay myself."
"But you've never seen Luke."
I wasn't sure why I kept hesitating on believing him, maybe it was because I didn't want to. Luke is my best friend and if he likes me then that's weird, because he just can't. We grew up together as best friends and he's like a brother to me. I can't be with my brother.
"Ashton."
"What?"
"He likes you."
"He can't like me, I'm not gay."

Khalil and I ended up hanging out for the rest of the day after he closed the store, and I kept constantly checking my phone to see if Luke wanted to apologize but he never did which doesn't concern me. If he wants to get mad over something so stupid then that's his problem, not mine.
I was having fun with Khalil anyway, so he wasn't important at the moment, maybe a little but not to get in the way of everything. Khalil and I ended up discussing our hobbies, our interests, our favorite memories, and more while we sat down and ate frozen yogurt.
He decided to go with the cake batter while I chose the peanut butter flavored fro-yo along with strawberry, vanilla and coconut and added tons of gummy bears on top of it. Khalil's was more basic than mine, his only having a few cherries, some cheesecake bites, and some bobas.
Mine was a lot more extreme, with the three flavors plus gummy bears, oreos, sprinkles, cherries, bobas, and caramel sauce. It wasn't my fault that I enjoyed frozen yogurt, plus he offered to pay which means I'm going to take advantage of that.
If they offer, then they have to deal with what you choose.
We brought our yogurts up to the counter and set them on the scanner for our prices to be evaluated. It was priced by ounce which meant that mine was going to be more expensive than his.
"That will be $9.44 cents please." Khalil took out his wallet and handed the man in glasses and a uniform a ten dollar bill, receiving 66 cents back which he told him to keep as a tip. We sat down at the small table next to the window and began eating our frozen yogurt.
"You've been awfully quiet today. Is everything okay man?" I snapped out of what I was thinking about while licking my spoon.
"Yeah, everything is fine."
"You sure?"
"No."
I was never the type to lie, I was always honest to anyone and everyone. There isn't a reason to lie when someone can obviously see when you are and when you aren't, which is why I just choose to tell the truth. Luke is the same way as me.
"What's the matter?"
"Luke."
He knew that I didn't want to talk about him or what happened, so he just set his yogurt down and patted my back slightly.
"I promise it'll be alright soon, just give the boy some time to cool down."
I just nodded and continued eating my yogurt in an awkward silence until he started to speak up again to stop it.
"So you never told me about this girl."
I smiled at the thought of her because I haven't thought about Jenny at all today.
"Oh right," I said with yogurt on my lip, then I licked it off and continued, "I think that she's beautiful, and we went on a few dates before. I also kind of sort of asked her if she wanted to join us right now."
He squinted his eyes then laughed. "That's okay, y'know where she is?" I shook my head then checked the time on my phone, "in a few minutes."
We waited for her to show up, and right when she walked in, I smiled but Khalil stood up and his eyes darted at her by which she looked freaked out.
"Jenny?"
"Khalil?"
I stood up and moved between them uncomfortably, then bit down on my lip. "You two know eachother?"
"Yeah," Khalil said in a low monotoned voice, "Jenny is my sister."
