Pet peeve: misuse of grammar, the misuse of grammar is definitely one of my biggest pet peeves. The correct use of grammar makes your story seem well thought out and more professional in general
Tip: proofread your work to check over for any mistakes. Also:
You + are = you're
They + are = they're
I + will = I'll (not ill, that is a separate word. Don't get sloppy)
That + is = that's
It + is = it's
Another thing I do is remember that if it can be replaced with "you are" "they are' and others. That would be the contraction used in the sentence
