Chapter 3

I opened the door and walked onto Cheryl's lawn and crossed onto the sidewalk. I heard someone open the door and run out behind me.

"Hey, Betty. Wait. Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Go away Peter. You shouldn't be here." I replied.

"Betty, slow down Betty." He jogged up beside me.

I stopped and turned to him.

"I said I'm fine. I'm just going home. My mom is gonna kill me for being here this late." I made up an excuse.

I took off and ran to the bus stop. Peter standing in the middle of the side walk in confusion.

I got home and ran up to my room.

"Going to bed mom!!" I shouted.

I took out my phone. I had three missed calls from Veronica. And four texts.

I read the texts.

{Betty? U here?}
{Did u leave?}
{I'm sorry Okay?}
{come on. Pickup or reply!}

{what do u want Veronica?} I replied.

{look I'm srry.}

{u knew I liked him. You were the one who made me ask him to the dance and U stil went in. Go away V}

Tears were running down my face. I leaned back against the wall. I stood up to go get changed.

A blue and red figure was on Archie's roof. I wiped the tears away to see clearly. The figure was swinging away. Then was gone.

Was that Spider-Man? Omg. That was Spider-Man. He really is in Riverdale. You know what I'll ask my dad.

I turned on my phone again.

I dialed in a number and out the phone to my ear. It was still ringing.

"Hey, Lizzie." Tony answered.

That was his nickname for me.

"Hey dad. Can I ask you a question? Are you busy?"

"No, no, I'm not busy. Shoot" he said.

"Is Spider-Man really in Riverdale? Because I just saw him out side my window." I questioned.

"Yes he is." Dad answered.

"Okay, thanks dad. Say hi to mom for me, I have to go to sleep now."

"Okay, love you Liz, night. Mom sends her love." The phone call ends.

"Night" he didn't hear me.

I changed clothes and got into bed. I closed my eyes.

I lay in bed for a while. I couldn't stop thinking
about Veronica, Archie, and Spider-Man.

I was about to fall asleep, when I got the text. I changed quickly, because I didn't want him to see me in my PJ's.

Archie walked up the stairs.

I thought about what to say. Settling with,
"I'm not gonna ask what you did with Veronica at Cheryl's. I'm asking you now, right now, if you love me Archie. Or even like me?"

"Of course I love you Betty, but I can't give you the answer you want." Archie walked towards me.

"Why?" I questioned.

"You are so perfect. I've never been good enough for you. I'll never be good enough for you."

Tears started running down my face. I had nothing left to say, so I turned around and went back into the house.

The next morning I got a text from Archie.

[are you up can we talk?]

I replied with.

[no....and no.] I knew he was looking through the window.

[please?!]

I went to the window and stared at him. My expression was cold. He clearly saw it and left the window.

I was mad but wanted to talk about it. So he walked me to school.

In science we were asked to pair up.

Veronica wanted to be with me, I wanted to be with Kevin. Veronica ended up with one of Cheryl's minions and Kevin went with Moose. So Peter came and sat with me.

"Hey." Peter said.

"Hi?"

"Ya....um.... okay let's get started."

"So do you want to do it or should I?" I asked.

Peter took out the scalpel. I looked away. He stabbed into the frog.

Veronica, Kevin and I sat down. Peter was already there. Veronica asked Archie to play his song.

It reminded me of all my moments with Archie. At the dance, last night, everything.

Eventually the song was over. Everyone applauded. My head was down.

"Betty? You okay?" Archie asked.

"I'm supposed to say yes. That's what the nice girl always says, but no I'm not. I want to be, i thought I could be but it's too much too fast." I started crying so I ran away.

Archie chased after me.

I could still here he conversation.

"You've done enough." He said.

I sat down beside a tree. Peter walked up to me.

"Betty?" He asked.

I looked up at him.

"Are you okay?"
