two months later:

court dancers' building:

pooja's fair hands grabbed a handmade lamp and then slowly and delicately, lit the lamp and kept it on her windowsill. it was nighttime. stars shone as sugar spilt over black marble, glistening in the sun. the night sky was such a welcome sight, appearing like magic at each sunset.

her hands reached the diary she kept away from the world and started to write in it:

dear diary,

two months without ruhaan...two months. everyday I pray for his well-being, this battle is really a long one. I hope that very soon it ends.  why did this battle have to happen? why did the gupta empire declare war on us? I lost my pitaji because of them. now I hope that ruhaan is safe. that night on raja Abhay's birthday was so perfect till that declaration.

pooja

she closed her diary and kept it under her pillow. pooja looked outside the window where she could see the tiny diamonds in the sky, just then her kohl eyes saw the full white moon. the minute she saw the full moon, she went back into a flashback:

...

two months ago:

raja abhay's birthday gathering:

courtroom:

after ruhaan managed to get his way of letting the court dancers stay, the hall was again filled with chatter and the royal family of the Khanna empire were off their thrones, talking to their guests. pooja saw ruhaan alone in a corner and came up to him.

pooja: what is a yuvraj doing alone here in this corner?

ruhaan: waiting for his future queen.

pooja's cheeks turned a dark shade of pink upon hearing of his comment. ruhaan looked around, no eyes were on them so he took that opportunity to pinch the side of pooja's waist. her lips formed an 'o' shape as for the first time in forever, ruhaan had his chance to smirk.

ruhaan whispering: I have dhanu to make sure no one tries to look for us. he is going to keep every suspect busy. I told him to tell them that I went to get some fresh air and also to tell them that you had some pain in your feet hence you went back to the building to rest. if we are needed, dhanu knows where to find us.

pooja whispering: lekin kyu?

ruhaan didn't say another word. he gently held pooja's wrist and made her walk with him.

pooja: arre, I didn't even take an answer. where are we going? bolo na ruhaan.

ruhaan whispering: a little louder pooja, I don't think everyone heard you.

pooja whispering: now you stole my line.

she pulled a sad pout making ruhaan roll his eyes.

ruhaan whispering: it was my line first so I am not stealing.

pooja rolled her eyes this time as ruhaan continued to make her walk.

after walking through the hall and climbing a long staircase, the young couple found themselves on the terrace. the sky dark, scattered with diamonds and crystals. what stood out in that nightsky was the full white moon.

moonlight poured from the sky like the milk of a god that required no sustenance and instead was satisfied with only the beauty of the soft rays. the moonlight hit pooja making her glow brighter than ever. her lips formed a smile and the light breeze played with her hair. ruhaan was memorised seeing his goddess saraswati looking more beautiful than ever.
