A/N: so yeah, since this is October now, I'd thought I'd get started on watching some stuff in relation to the season. Mainly something that's dark in tone, scary or something around that.

And while the Dark Crystal isn't anything of the horror aspect. It is somewhat of a dark and at times, scary fantasy film.

So without further delay, here's my review of The Dark Crystal.

Pros:

*Jim Henson and his crew did a fantastic job with the designs of the characters and creatures as well as the puppetry for the film.

*Wonderful Score Composed by Trevor Jones. Giving the film a beautiful and even sometimes frightening music.

*The Setting of the film were beautiful, from a forest area to where everything is nearly alive to the Skeksis' castle.

*The Skeksis' were rather entertaining villains. Each having their own traits you get to see in just the first scene or so when you get to see them.

*Jen and Kira were enjoyable main characters and watching them struggle on their trip to get the shard back to the Crystal.

*The moment where the podling had it's essence sucked out of it was probably one of the darkest moments to come out of this film.

*Aughra was hilarious in this film.

*The Ending was well done and has a beautiful last shot of the now Crystal Castle around a more lush green area.

Cons:

*I don't think we got to know much of the other urRu aside from the one who died in the beginning.

*Kinda the typical Hero's Journey. But, it's not a huge con.

All and All, great film with wonderful special effects, puppetry, music, settings and great characters. I give the original Dark Crystal a 9/10. Now for me to get started with the Age of Resistance and see how that holds up.
