Sonnet

By: Zena Hunters

A sonnet, a poem of only fourteen

When you rhyme, it has to be formal
A sonnet poem works as a team
A sonnet poem is far from normal

Most sonnets are in English, but some are Italian
Each one has ten syllables or more
There is no need to practice on a napkin
Don't throw a fit and throw your poem on the floor.

Instead, say your sonnet in a song.
Sonnet came from a place where they used to say "Sonetto" which means "little song"
No need for doubt you are not wrong.
Besides, you don't want your poem sounding like a squawking swan.

There is always a way to make a middle-aged poem sound new.
Make sure your poem; is good and doesn't sound like a wild zoo.
