Your eyes fluttered open to scattered daylight in your room. You sat up and rubbed your eyes, the brightness bothering you. After swinging your feet over the edge of the bed, you shut the sliding door to your balcony, successfully dimming the room considerably.
You sat down at your desk, a large yawn squeaking out as you stretched, tears forming at the corner of your eyes. After wiping them clean, you pulled out a book, only to be interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in," you called, hoping to be greeted by Lord Muzan. Unfortunately, Ayano entered, though you kept the disappointment from showing.
"Good morning, Miss Seiza," she greeted you, squinting herself at the faint daylight still in the room. "I brought you your favorite, (favorite breakfast food)."
You gave her a small smile as she brought it in for you, and you carefully tucked your book away. Ayano then stepped into your bathroom, silently preparing a bath for you while you ate. When you were done, you stepped up from your desk and into the bathroom, standing hesitantly in the doorway.
"Miss Ayano," you called out, and she looked up from her seated position by the tub, her hand in the water testing the temperature. The water was tinged pink, and you couldn't help but wonder what herbal concoction she had put inside. "Lord Muzan said I should expect a surprise today. Do you know what it is?"
Ayano looked back into the bath water from glancing up at you, stirring it with her fingers before beckoning you forward. You frowned slightly but obliged, stepping down into the bathroom and discarding your kimono. You sat down in front of her on a stool, and she pushed her sleeves up while you tipped your head back. She brushed through your hair first, discarding the loose strands in a nearby trash.
"Master told me it was meant to be a surprise," Ayano finally spoke, and you couldn't help but puff your cheeks out in disappointment, hugging your naked body despite the warm temperature in the room. "Don't be disappointed. He's sure it's something you'll grow to enjoy."
You remained silent for a long time, long enough for Ayano to finish brushing through your h/c strands and carefully dump water on your head. She was halfway done shampooing your hair, her nails scratching your scalp before you spoke again.
"Why do you take care of me, Miss Ayano?" You asked, your head rocking with the movement of her fingers. She paused, clearly off guard by your question.
"Master asked me to," she answered, resuming her scrubbing several seconds before she bent over the grab the bucket.
It had been nearly 10 days since you began your stay here, and Ayano had tended to you each day. Ensured you ate properly, were washed every other day, your clothes were clean, and you were comfortable and content.
"You're doing a really great job," you informed her, before turning to look over your shoulder, flashing her a warm smile with suds still in your hair. "Thank you."
Ayano blinked at you, before recovering her composure as quick as she lost it.
"Tilt your head back and face forward," she instructed, and you did as you were told. Once the shampoo was rinsed out of your hair, she leaned over and pumped several squirts of conditioner into her hands, a rare commodity that she had to admit she was envious that Kibutsuji insisted you have it.
After working it into the ends of your hair, she wrapped your hair into a bun atop your head, and tapped your shoulders.
"In you go," she instructed, and you nodded wordlessly, stepping into the bath. The water immediately relaxed you, and you found yourself sinking in until nose level, your eyes fluttering nearly shut.
