Outside was more chaotic than you had imagined.
All the demon slayer pillars you had met earlier were locked in combat, with lower moons that you recognized from their trips into town with you.
Enmu, Rokuro, Wakuraba, Mukago, Rui, and Kamanue, against the pillars you remembered to be Shinobu, Shinazugawa, Rengokou, and Iguro. There were several other slayers you didn't recognize, one with a butterfly hair pin, one with a Mohawk hairstyle, and various others in plain clothing.
Your eyes widened at the scene, watching the slayers go head to head with the demons. It was incredible, really, watching them fight. The slayers moved with such grace and power, it was almost paralyzing to witness.
To regain your attention, Tomioka grabbed your hand, your head turning towards him at the action. His hand was warm, but calloused and rough, and his grip was tight and effectively brought you back to reality.
"They can handle it here. We've got to get you somewhere safer until sunrise."
You nodded and allowed him to pull you forward, your head turning back just in time to lock eyes with Enmu, who's cheeks flushed a dark red at you.
"Seiza! Come along, let's get you home!" He sang, but upon further inspection, he saw you holding hands with a demon slayer, pulling you deeper into the compound. His eyes widened, before he barely dodged an attack unleashed by the snake pillar.
'Is Seiza here voluntarily..?'
Such a thought stunned Enmu, but his eyes watched as you willingly followed the slayer, no knife to your throat, no current threat to your life.
With a large jump, Enmu was in front of both you and tomioka, blocking your path. His eyebrows were upturned in confusion, the usual blush from his cheeks gone.
"Where are you headed, Seiza? You know we're here to retrieve you," Enmu reached his hand out for you. "Surely you won't keep us waiting, after all this trouble?"
But in an instant, his hand was nearly sliced off, the snake pillar Iguro holding the sword that had nearly taken his hand.
"Keep your eyes on your opponent, demon," he commanded, the snake around his shoulders dropping his head with the threat.
Enmu briefly looked over at you, his mouth pulling into a frown as he jumped back to avoid another blow dealt by Iguro.
"You're going to displease Master, Seiza," Enmu warned you, jumping high enough to land on the roof of the mansion. "You never have, so you don't know what it's like, and although I may enjoy it, I can't say most others do!"
Although they were spoken in a sing-song voice, Enmu's words struck a chord of fear in you. Of course you would be punished, and likely as severely as the other demons and humans alike you had watched him lay waste to. Your eyes widened and you stared off at Enmu in disbelief, watching him engage the snake pillar again at a distance.
"We won't-" Tomioka paused, squeezing your hand. "I won't let that happen." He promised, and at the still fearful look in your eyes, his eyebrows pulled tighter.
"Seiza, we've got to go," Tomioka pulled you along anyway, farther away from all the fighting and deeper into the headquarters. You allowed him to weave you both throughout the compound, entering and exiting various buildings. Each time he entered before you, one hand on his sword and the other hand wrapped tightly around your own. The warmth from his hand was comforting, but the chill from the night air brought goosebumps across your skin.
"Tomioka," you whispered, still being tugged along. He turned his head slightly, his oceanic eyes still focused on the scene before him.
"Hm?" He responded, squinting slightly before pulling you into a room and shutting the door.
