Victoria

Victoria handed the bag to the blonde, giving her a harsh glare as she did so. "If you're lying to me, I won't hesitate to kill you."

She moved to Bella before she got a response. Victoria moved her damp hair away from her face, hearing Bella sigh from the change of temperature. Bella only released a soft whine when she was moved from her place on the ground to Victoria's arms.

"I'm Rosalie," the blonde said, taking a good look at the sleeping human.

"Victoria," she said. "This is Bella."

Rosalie nodded, her gaze on the human. From the moment Rosalie looked at her, she recognized the brunette; the missing girl from Phoenix, presumed dead by most, was alive and with a vampire.

Not good. Rosalie spared Victoria a glance before she took off in the direction of the house, the other following close behind. They traveled in silence for the journey, Rosalie only talking once to let them know they were close.

At that, Victoria glanced down at the human who was limp in her arms. Bella was alive though her breathing was shallow, head resting against her shoulder as she mumbled something incoherent.

Rosalie slowed her walk, Victoria following her action. She quickly took notice of the clearing around her.

They were walking alone a wide trail, a large house at the end of it. It was a lot deeper in the woods than the cave was though a lot more noticeable. Victoria almost questioned why one person, a vampire at that, would need such a large place for herself but she kept quiet.

It was two, possibly three, stories yet almost all the walls were replaced by glass. It looked open, spacious. Even a few of the windows were open, allowing the sounds of nature the pass though the house. The color scheme picked for the outside matched with the greenery.

"Follow me," Rosalie announced once they went inside. She made her way up the stairs, Victoria followed her blindly.

Victoria took notice of the four open windows, two on the first floor, one on the second and the last on the third; the door they entered from remained open. Another quick exit if needed.

They reached a room at the end of the hall on the third floor. There was a bed in the middle of room, a large window as behind that. The room stunk of medical supplies, a mini fridge filled with blood packs stood in the corner. Victoria paid it no mind as she laid Bella on the bed, moving her hair away from her face.

"How long has she been like this?" Rosalie asked. She ripped Bella's pants leg to get a better look at the injury.

"A couple days now." Victoria watched the other vampire carefully. "She got the injury almost two weeks ago."

Rosalie hummed. She turned away from the girl to grab what she would need from behind her. "How did she hurt her leg?" To Victoria it was a simple question but Rosalie was actually trying to figure out if the human was in danger.

"She was hurt when I found her." Victoria shrugged. "I thought you said you knew someone who could help."

"Well as you can see, he's not here. So I'm what you get." When she turned back around, hands filled with supplies, Rosalie noticed Victoria's hard stare. "Look, I have like three medical degrees so don't worry. I know what I'm doing."

Releasing a hard sigh, Victoria stepped back so Rosalie did her work.

Once again, they were drowned in silence. The only noise came from Bella; her soft sighs and quiet breathing as Rosalie cleaned, stitched and dressed Bella's leg. It was badly infected but nothing that couldn't be treated. Although she would have to stay off her leg for a while.

"She's seriously dehydrated," Rosalie muttered. An IV was already ready thankfully. She tore at the long sleeves to placed the needle but paused.

Bite marks.

Four of them on her right arm. Naked to the human eye but not to the vampire. They were noticeably colder yet shimmered in the faint light.

On Bella's other arm was two more bites. Her neck was bare, but had faint scratches here and there.

After making sure the IV was situated, Rosalie stalked up to Victoria who was leaning against the large window.

"What have you been doing to this girl?" She accused.

Victoria lazily glanced over to her. "Excuse me?"

"Bella has marks of being tortured— by a vampire nonetheless," she growled. "Is your blood bag dying and you needed help to keep her alive?"

"If you would get your blonde head out of your ass, you should know I just met her!" Victoria hissed. "Why the hell would I endanger my mate, Rosalie?"

The argument stopped at that simple word. Mate. A vampire and a human mate was almost nonexistent. And Victoria had come to terms of not have a mate and yet there she was. Healing from a different vampire attacking her.

Victoria felt a chill go up the back of her neck as an uneasy feeling washed over her. The glare she had on Rosalie grew harder.

"You never told me there were more of you." Rosalie was blocking the door, there was no way Victoria could easily escape with Bella in her arms.

The sound of cars coming up the pathway filled the tense atmosphere as Victoria felt outnumbered.

More vampires were approaching.
