10 years later...

Third person POV

"Ben!" Kristin called from behind the counter. A dark-haired man turned around. "You forgot your phone."

"Oops," Ben said, heading back towards his girlfriend. She handed him his phone and he put it in his pocket, flashing her a smile. She blushed in return. "Thanks."

"My shift ends late today. I'll come home after closing," Kristin said as he left. "See you later!"

Ben whistled his way out of the store and into his car. He smoothed his hair back and started the engine. He hummed his way home.

"Okay," Ben muttered to himself as he entered his apartment. "Kristy'll be home at eight. I could watch TV, right?"

He opened up his phone and checked his mail. There was one new email in his inbox, from Alexander Hale at the CIA. It had been a while since he heard from the CIA.

Agent Benjamin Ripley-

It has come to my attention that you are a well established spy. There is something that needs to come across your attention, so please be outside the nearest Starbucks coffee at 7 pm.

                                                                                                                                     -Alexander Hale, CIA

-Linebreak-

Catherine Hale and her husband Alexander sadly stared at their daughter Erica as she silently picked at her salad, not looking up from her book. Catherine led Alexander to another room.

"We need to do something about Erica," she said. "It's been ten years since the shock wave. She still doesn't remember Ben."

"Yes, but what can we do about it?" Alexander asked her, concerned. "It's not like the cure's already invented. We don't even know what happened to them."

Catherine silently shed a single tear. "We need to get Ben to meet Erica."

They headed to where Erica was finishing up the last of her salad. "Erica, Starbucks at seven," Alexander said. Erica nodded, barely looking up from her plate. Catherine shared the same hopeful smile that Alexander did.

-Linebreak-

Ben combed his hair one last time and smoothed his shirt. Grabbing his phone and his keys, he headed to his car. He drove in silence, chewing on a piece of gum. He parked outside the coffee shop and entered it for the second time that day. Kristin was up there, taking orders from customers. Ben waited in line, knowing that he had a little more time before seven.

"Ben! You, here? In line?" Kristin gasped, surprised to see him there. He stroked her cheek and kissed it.

"I'll have a coffee," he said. She pulled one from under the counter. "I'll be outside."

Ben spotted an empty table and took a seat, waiting for Alexander Hale. Little did he notice the girl who walked into the shop past him.

Erica  Hale walked into the joint and waited patiently in the line, wondering why her parents wanted her to come to a Starbucks, of all the places in the world. She made her order and grabbed her hot chocolate before heading out to the tables outside. The breeze rustled her hair as she took a seat opposite to a man sipping his coffee and reading his texts.

Ben's phone suddenly rang and he answered it. "Agent Hale?"

Erica stiffened at the name. Who is this guy? she thought. she kept her guard up and paid close attention to his conversation.

Ben was silent, listening to Alexander's voice after a long time. He finally replied. "Yes, Alexander."

That was it. Erica knew he was a threat. She pounced on him, tackling him to the floor. he surprisingly flipped her over and got up.

"Who are you?" Erica growled. "Are you a SPYDER agent?"

"What? No! I defeated SPYDER, like 10 years ago," Ben replied. They both looked at each other, shocked and surprised at the same time.

"You're a spy?" they asked at the same time, then nodded their heads. Then Ben spoke up.

"CIA, Spy?" he asked. Erica nodded, growing even more confused.

"Do I know you?" they asked each other again at the same time. Erica whipped out her phone and showed him a photo.

"Jawa, Chip, Warren!" Ben gasped. Erica nodded, then swiped to the next picture. Picture after picture, they grew even more and more surprised.

Suddenly, Ben felt a bad headache overtaking him. He fell to the floor, clutching his head. The last thing he heard before blacking out was a worried, pained voice.

"Ben?"

Erica gasped, then clutched her own head. The world spun around for a moment, then everything turned black a split second later.

This chapter was pretty short. the next one's going to be longer than this one, and I don't think I will be posting it until Friday. Sorry. School's really taking up all of my time. See you then!
