01: Outside/Hangout

It was quite an ordinary day. The sun is shining brightly in the clear blue sky, and she was perfectly content in sitting in her room.

But of course, that peaceful moment won't last, especially if you have a crazy person as your best friend.

"Psst."

She felt a spark of irritation rise at the interruption, but she ignored it, as well as the voice as she continued on what she was doing.

"Psst. Lyn."

Her hand tightened on the computer mouse, but other than that, she didn't move.

"Psst. Lyn."

"Lyn."

"Lyn."

"Jolyn."

"Jolyn."

"Jolyn."

"Jolyn!"

The said girl sighed and faced the window of her second-floor bedroom. She was met with the eerily grinning face of her best friend that would have made her jump in fright had she not been used to it.

"Yes, Cyclone?" she said sweetly instead, twirling the wire of the headphones that rested on her shoulders.

The wind elemental's cerulean blue eyes twinkled in excitement and jumped up and down on his hoverboard. Jolyn watched him wearily, slightly afraid that he will miss landing on the hoverboard and fall down on the ground.

"Let's hang out, Lynnie!" Cyclone said, grinning as he continued on doing the absolutely not dangerous game of jumping on his hoverboard.

Jolyn hid her smile as her bestfriend babbled on things to persuade her to go outside. His attitude reminded her of Glace when she's in a caffeine rush.

...wait a minute.

"Cyclone," Jolyn said slowly, dreading the answer. "Who gave you coffee?"

The wind elemental's smile turned sheepish as he stopped jumping and scratched the back of his neck. "I... might have sneaked some from the kitchen counter."

Jolyn closed her eyes and sighed. There was no escaping Cyclone when he's this hyped up.

"Alright," she said, opening her eyes. "Let me just tell my parents that I'm going out."

"So," Jolyn said, taking a bite of the ice cream that she had sneaked out from their refrigerator. "What was your idea of hanging out?"

Cyclone's answering grin sent shivers down her spine and she knew that whatever his plan was, she's not going to like it.

Apparently, her assumption was right because the next thing she knew, the two of them were hanging upside down on a tree branch, their feet intertwined with the other branches so that they won't fall down.

They were literally hanging out.

Jolyn felt blood rushing to her face (but she ain't blushing) because of being upside down, but she couldn't help but laugh at her best friend's similarly red face.

It was worth it though, she thought as she listened to the sound of Cyclone's laugh that would have lightened up the whole neighborhood.

Too short for me, but I can't literally think of anything else. I was stuck for two hours, just staring at the first two sentences of this story, trying to think of how to continue it without resorting to angst. Good thing I thought of something before I was forced to sleep.

And yes, I did mention myself in the story.

Hope ya like it, soldiers.

And Lyn.

Especially Lyn.
