(Highly Immersive - Slow Build Up)

It was a cold winter's day and you watched as the sky peppered the garden with it's white powdered dust. Admiring the crystal-like shards that rained gently from above, two white snowflakes seemed to encircle each other in an eternal dance, slowly descending down upon the earth as your breath continued to appear and reappear in a swirl of colourless mist. The length of the broom was still clutched tightly around your fingers, and for a moment you had forgotten why it had been there, before remembering that it was your job to dust off any snow that had landed upon the surface of the external wooden floors. "Don't want to upset Lady Kocho..." You thought to yourself as you began to sweep, not noticing the presence of another that had appeared before you a mere seconds beforehand.

You swept absentmindedly, even beginning to hum to yourself as you watched the white dust disappear with every swift, mechanical motion of your wrists. The scenery truly was beautiful here in the butterfly estate. Everyone was currently out on a mission to exterminate demons while you were stuck here... Alone, because of the frail body in which you were born. You didn't really mind it. Being left behind. You were happy to help in any other shape or form, as long as you were of help. Of use. Ever since you stopped helping Mr Urokodaki- being sent off to work for the Kochos because the mountain was simply becoming "too dangerous for your condition", you've been humbly living your life here. You couldn't help but feel a bit lonely sometimes though. The house was so big, and the other maidens were often busy doing their own set of private household duties so you didn't see them much.

"One, two, three... swoosh." You hummed, the powder flying into the air and spreading before falling gently onto the ground below.

"One, two, three... swoosh." You flicked again, your eyes brightening as the wooden floor below became increasingly more visible. You marched forward.

As you continued to mumble quietly to yourself, the figure couldn't help but smile softly at your small but ridiculous antics, following you as you gradually made your way across the entire length of the veranda. With a huff of satisfaction, you placed your hands on your hips before turning around to see the results of your hard work. You weren't sure if it was the sheer quality of your deck-sweeping technique or the face of an old friend that had surprised you so, but you stumbled backwards, your grip on the broom loosening as you felt your body become instantaneously weightless. You squealed. Quickly shutting your eyes as you braced yourself for the harsh thump of your back colliding against the garden ground, your ears deafened by the harsh sound of the broom clacking against the wooden floor. But strangely... neither of them met your senses. You opened one of your eyes, realising that you could no longer feel your feet planted on the wooden floor. A strong pair of arms were wrapped securely you, and facing up towards the ceiling- you could see the familiar, dark, raggedy outline of hair which belonged to a man you had not seen in weeks.

"Giyuu!!" You squeaked. "You scared me!!"

"Still clumsy as ever, I see. Y/n." He chuckled.

He placed you down onto the ground, allowing you to fix your kimono before handing you the broom which he had caught mere moments before it had reached the ground. So that's why I didn't hear it... You thought.

"You're back?? Since when!!?" You asked excitedly, knowing that he had gone off on an important mission to exterminate a powerful demon.

"Since now."

You studied him up close, scanning him up and down for any sign of injury before nodding. Yep. This was definitely Giyuu. No injuries at all! You sighed in relief after being secretly worried about him for weeks. However, there was something different about him that you couldn't seem to put your finger on. You scanned him up and down again.
