"You've gotta' be fucking kidding." The kiddo (as was her new 'name' given by the group) sighed with disgust as the Frenchie's van pulled into a space at the tournament of A-Train and Shockwave's race.

"Cool it, kid. This is an opportunity to get our hands on some of those supe steroids." M.M. added, he was honestly surprised Butcher hadn't answered first.

"At least you're not just waiting around any more, uh?" Frenchie reasoned. After much discussion, it was decided she could accompany him in the actual theft of the drug, rather than keeping a lookout.

"Fastest man in the world." She scowled,"I bet that's why Popclaw doesn't want him to win. That's gonna' make some real problems for her." She chuckled.

"How mature and tasteful of you." M.M. stated loudly.

"Hey, we gotta' suffer a bit of advertising to take the cunts down." Butcher reassured her, stepping out of the van and opening the back.

"Homelander's gonna' be here?" She asked as everyone else clambered out of the vehicle, her legs loosing feeling from being in the van so long. Nobody answered, fearing the consequences slightly.

Butcher began to exit which she kept an eye on while she listened in on M.M. and Hughies conversation,"Here's your cover - you're a mild-mannered reporter." He handed the newbie a camera,"So, uh... Butcher tells me he you met him, what? A few days ago?"

"Yeah... yeah, that sounds right. I dunno', I guess I kinda' lost track of time." Hughie supposed.

"Talk about baptism of fire. I'll mic you up here," He attached the wire to his fellow member of The Boys,"So, Translucent, huh? How the fuck did you pull that off?"

"I mean... she was there too-"

"Shut up, Hughie." She scoffed,"I did nothing - it was you who pulled the trigger." She... kind of gave him credit and backed him up for the first time so far.

"...I don't know, just lucky, I guess." Hughie dismissed it and replied anxiously.

"Still, must've been scary." M.M. added.

"...You wanna' know what's really messed up?" She continued sleuthing their conversation as it finally started getting interesting."Is uh... in some ways... just right in that moment... it... felt kind of good." He admitted his secret which made her smile, she knew exactly what he meant. She adored that feeling with all her heart. For years, that feeling had been all she had.

"It's written all over your face, Hughie." He broke the news to his new colleague.

"What? How can you tell?" He panicked innocently.

"'Cause I know how this job makes me feel."

"When I had the detonator in my hand I felt like a- I felt like a rush." He explained quickly, releasing tension built up now he had the chance.

"I get it." M.M. looked away - perhaps even in shame.

"Like ... I felt alive." Rowan furrowed her eyebrows, a rising feeling appearing in her chest as much as she was relating to his new emotions somehow.

"But that rush, Hughie, is no different from the shit A-Train shoots up. Everything comes with a price." She wasn't sure she wanted to stay much longer. Rowan may not have had chores or homework but she had responsibilities. She had her livelihood to look out for outside of working with The Boys.
