21. Medicine Hunting

The group fell into shock as they learn the horrifying truth. If you die, you just come back as one of them... Only if that death is not because of the destruction of the brain. If your brain I destroyed you die permanently.

Later that evening, Kagami notices that supplies are running low, and she signals Tsukasa to come over.

"Yes, Onee-Chan?"

"Bring Patty, Tamura, and Kusakabe over here."

Tsukasa complied, and signalled Patricia, Hiyori and Misao over. Kagami then told them what to do, before they set out of the university's premises and into the town.

They walked for at least half an hour when they found a corpse of a police officer lying on the pavement.

Hiyori adjusted her glasses, and inspected the body. She found a pistol and 3 boxes of ammunition on it.

She tries to point the pistol, getting used to holding it.

"Don't blast that thing here. The noise might attract them." Patty said.

"I know."

Suddenly they heard a sound of a trash bin being pushed to the ground. Tsukasa instinctively turned around, her axe raised above her head, only to stop as she sees who the perpetrator is.

It's Ruu.

"What are you doing here!?" Tsukasa asked.

"It's boring being there all the time." Ruu replied.

Tsukasa thinks of something. She doesn't want to scold a child by yelling.

"You know it's not safe, right? I mean, you don't want to get eaten?"

Ruu rolled her eyes upwards, thinking of something before she shook her head.

"Hey, Tsukasa! Just let her come with us!" Hiyori called out.

"OK then... Follow me, Ruu-Chan."

Ruu nodded.

They walked, as the sun goes down and darkness began to spread to the surroundings.

It was until finally they found a pharmacy. The pharmacy had an outer gate, locked with a combination lock. Sounds of roaming infected can be heard around the corner, and they had to enter the pharmacy without attracting any of them. Hiyori stood her guard for any incoming infected.

Tsukasa inspected the lock and her surroundings.

"Patty, do... Do you know the combo?" Tsukasa asked.

"Why're you askin' me that, Tsukasa?"

"Well, since it's American made..."

"You know that if it's American made, I'm not supposed to know all the combinations just because I'm American, right?"

"Yeah. Silly ol' me..." Tsukasa stuck out her tongue.

Behind the gate is a TV remote, which Tsukasa reached through the grates, and grabbed it.

"Open sesame..." Tsukasa pointed the remote at the lock, and pressed a few buttons.

"Tsukasa... Now's not the time for jokes." Kagami scolded.

Ruu just tilted her head, confused.

"I know, Onee-Chan. I'm just joking."

"The remote's universal, but not that universal."

"I know, Patty." In actuality, she didn't know.

"Why don't you just use that thing on your back?" Ruu pointed at Tsukasa's axe which she sheathed on her back.
