After All

In a corner the boy sat,
With his phone in hand.
And a girl got up
And went to him.
As her blue eyes met his green ones,
He knew instantly
It was love.

Fantasies filled his mind,
As he started to think of her more
And more.
He thought, "Oh, I wish I could kiss her lips,
Before
It's too late."

His friend came to know
And started to grow
Bitter.
He said, "Too young you are,
Don't think so bizarre,
Don't become a foe."
For he was jealous and wanted to make the girl his.
But the real gentleman still longed for her kiss.

As all of his friends came
To know this secret, they made
Fun of him and told him
He was a fool to fall,
He was fourteen,
After all.

The long awaited day came.
Crossing his fingers, slightly drunk,
He confessed.
He couldn't use the mind of his
And leaned in for a kiss.
But of course rejected was he
As she saw him only
And only
As her friend.
But he decided to still wait forever
Even until death.

"Maybe there's still hope", he thought.
And hope was in fact there.
As the girl fell for him hard
And accepted after a year.

The night fell
And they
Knew it was finally the time.
So their kiss deepened which
Became something deeper
As they made love for the first time.

They didn't care for the consequence
And didn't decide to protect.
So a month later
They came to realize
They have to destroy
The life that was made.

As all of his friends came
To know these secrets, they were
Shocked and told them
It wouldn't last long,
They were sixteen,
After all.

But the friends, however, weren't the problem
For they had a bigger thorn in their way
That was none other than her brother
Who felt jealous to see
Her sister
Being treated better than he ever could.
And feared that she would be
Pulled away from him
Before he could realize.

As they secretly dated
They made one mistake
And her brother found them
Together in her room.
And pulled him away
To beat him to death.
But would she let him in any way?

And all he was feeling
Was a loss of words
And a flame burning within
As he spit out the words
"Break up for sure you shall,
I won't let you be together,
After all."

Again and again thorns kept coming
But their bond only deepened
And proved everyone who said "it won't last"
To be wrong.

Years later, they stood on a cliff,
That held many memories and
He looked for the ring in his pocket
And started to speak
But was interrupted by her melodic voice saying,
"You idiot, do you still have to ask?
You know it's forever a 'yes'."
And they burst into tears and hugged each other as
They started planning their wedding.

His friends, her brother, were all skeptics,
And all they wished for
Was this bonding to be destroyed and to fall.
Grapes are sour,
After all.

At thirty, they held their
Children in their arms
And looked into each other's eyes
And smiled.
How could this ever end?
It was true love,
After all.
