One Month Later"So where's Harry?" Niall asks me in the car back from the airport.
"Oh, he had to take care of something with a client. He should arrive a little past seven." I answer him.
Niall had finally come to New York to look for spaces for his new hotel, so I was having him stay at my old loft since I wasn't really using it for anything. Harry was supposed to pick him up from his flight, but had an emergency at the office, so I went in his place. Niall was surprised to see me, but gave me a big bear hug when he got close enough.
We decided to go to the store to get some food to make for dinner since Niall was too exhausted to go out to dinner, and I've been wanting to try this new recipe Harry had sent me a week ago. Once we got to my old building, I went to the office to get Niall a key card for the front door. I already had an extra key made for him for the loft door, so I showed him up after talking to the office manager for a bit.
I could tell Niall was impressed by my old place, so I let him explore a bit while I unloading the groceries and found the recipe on my phone.
"This place is great, Madison. Why did you guys decide to stay at Harry's?" He asks me when he resurfaces from the master bedroom.
I shrug, "I've never really felt attached to this place, and I liked how small and cozy Harry's place was."
"How long have you been living together again?"
"Well..." I chuckled, "Officially a month, but once we got together he didn't let me leave, so really like over two months."
He gave me a look as he settled down on one of the barstools on the opposite side of the island I'm cooking on. "Proper obsessed with you, isn't he?"
I laughed, "More like I'm totally obsessed with him. I keep thinking he's going to get tired of me, but it hasn't happened yet."
"Oh, please, he spent an hour on the phone the other telling me how perfect you were. Kept on saying you're the love of his life, and he couldn't believe he found you." Niall accepts the glass of wine I pour him while I blush at his admission. "Seems like you two are on the right track."
I smiled as I set up my cutting station, "Niall, are you trying to sneakily getting information out of me? Why don't you just ask what you want to ask."
"Do you see a future with him?" He blurts out.
I look up at him with a furrowed brow, "Of course I do."
He pressed on, "Like marriage... kids?"
"Yeah, I do plan on marrying him. We haven't talked about kids though... Where is this all coming from?" I asked.
Niall lets out a deep sigh, "Sorry for prying. I just don't want him to get hurt again. I've never seen him this in love with someone, and you know I worry about him."
"It's fine, Niall." I assure him, "I get why you're worried, but you don't need to, not anymore. I've got him, okay?"
I could see he still felt a bit uncomfortable, but he changed the subject after a swift head nod, "How was Paris? I never got to ask you guys about your trip."
I grinned widely, "It was amazing. Seriously, Niall, thank you for that room at such last minute. It was perfect. We're thinking of going back for a week or two after the wedding, so I can really show him around the city."
"Let me know, and I'll get you a room." He says.
We spend the next hour talking about random things until we hear the door open. I've got my back to the entrance while I stir the risotto, turning my head to catch Harry walking in, cheeks and nose slightly pink from the chilly wind outside. He and Niall bound over to each other, embracing in a big hug. They talk for a minute as I finish up dinner for the three of us.
