For The First Time

CHAPTER ONE

STEVE

A lot of things have been different since the attack on New York, things I definitely didn't expect.

Finding out that HYDRA grew inside SHIELD change a lot of things but knowing that Bucky was alive shift everything for me.

Although he didn't recognize me at first I have a feeling that he remembered me because he saved me but right now I have no idea where he could be and the earth still needs protection.

With the team, we have been looking for Loki's scepter for months now, breaking into every HYDRA base we find.

We discovered this one some days ago and the kind of energy surrounding the place was a good hint that the scepter was here but we didn't know for sure.

We started the fight on the outside and eventually Stark got us in, Loki's scepter was there and after months of looking, it was finally in our hands, but in the process, we found out about two enhanced, male and female, both with abilities I had never seen before. I was sure they were going to appear again so I asked Hill to look for information about them.

We decided we needed to analyze the scepter before Thor took it back to Asgard, in order to find out what else it has been used for, besides weapons and human enhancement. Plus Stark was organizing a farewell party and it felt great to finally end with HYDRA, so we really deserved to celebrate.

Once arrived at the tower

"Lab's all set up, boss" Hill said

"Oh, actually he's the boss" Tony said, looking at me "I just pay for everything and design everything and make everyone look cooler"

"What's the word on Strucker?" I ask Hill

"NATO's got him"

"And the two enhanced?" I ask curiously

"Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Orphaned at 10, when a shell collapsed their apartment building"

"Their abilities?"

"He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis, her thing is neuroelectric interfacing, telekinesis, mental manipulation"

I just looked at her like: In English, please

"He's fast and she's weird. File says they volunteered for Strucker's experiments. It's nuts" she said.

"Right, what kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country" I said kind of pissed while getting on the elevator

"We are not at war captain" Hill replies

"They are"

Two days later

Today is the party and I asked Sam to come too.

"Sounds like a hell of a fight, I'm sorry I missed it" he said after I told him about the mission.

"If I had known it was gonna be a fight, I absolutely would have called"

"No no, I'm not actually sorry, I'm just trying to sound tough. Avenging is your world... Your world is crazy" he replied

The party went on and I decided to go for a drink when I heard Nat and Banner talking in the bar, I think is great they are getting together.

"It's nice" I said

"What is?" Banner asked

"You and Romanoff"

"No, we haven't... That wasn't..."
