The next day Mason found himself waking up to the sunlight filtering through the curtains in his room. His chest felt heavy as he thought about the day before and sat up. The cold sheets next to him twisted his heart but didn't focus a whole lot on them, his mind danced with thoughts of Zabby, much to his surprise. He couldn't help but crave her lips on his again, but he knew better. He didn't want to become just as bad as Desdemona. His heart cried out at the thought of the name but he shrugged it off, slipping on a loose tank top and some shorts.

He thought more about his mother and what she would have said if he would have told her the whole truth. He wondered what advice she would give him and he felt himself sniffle and wipe the tears that began to pool in his eyes before he stepped out of the room, his ears being met with the TV on. He sighed as he walked down the hall.

"Edana, I thought I told you-" He froze at the sight of Des's curly mane, her blue eyes meeting his scarlet ones.

"Hey, Mason." She spoke so softly, so gently, but there was an edge to her voice.

He gave a nod, "Hey, Des. When did you get home?"

"Late," Was her only response.

A tense silence swept over them as a soft sigh left the female. Mason slowly sat on the couch.

"Where have you been lately?" He suddenly asked, catching Des off guard.

"Work, where else?" She huffed.

Mason didn't respond and looked away from her.

Des opened her mouth when there was a knock on the door. Mason was swift to stand up and answer the door. Two tall women stood before him, both of them in workout clothing and smiling. Des scowled.

"Mason! There you are, dude! You ready for-"

"Who are you?" Des interrupted, her voice icy.

Edana turned to face the brunette, her green eyes going dark as the familiar feeling of jealousy filled her veins. She couldn't help but feel a little amused at the woman's feelings. Wasn't she the one that was cheating on Mason?

"I'm Edana," She spoke calmly.

"Zabby," Zabby said, a smirk twitching onto her lips.

Zabby's heterochromia eyes met blue and her smirk grew.

"Uh, they're my friends, Des. We go to the gym together and stuff." Mason sighed.

"Yeah!" Edana suddenly punched his shoulder, "You ready to go yet, by the way?"

Mason opened his mouth to reply when Des grabbed his shoulder.

"Actually I was thinking we could spend some time together, Mason." She said softly.

Mason furrowed his brow. Edana's eyes sparkled with amusement, and Zabby frowned. The young man turned to the other two women, his eyes meeting Zabby's and his heart began to race. He sighed.

Gently grabbing Des's hand, he pulled it off his shoulder and turned to her, "I can't, Des. It's not fair that I cancel plans with my friends when you don't cancel plans with them. And don't say you've been working all the time." He gave her a small smile, "I'll see you later, okay?"

Before Des could reply he walked out the door to his grinning friends and closed it behind him. Des's chest ached when she realized how empty the house really felt. Her eyes began to tear up and before she could stop herself she started to sob.
