Who am I?
People say
They can tell
Who I really am
By getting to know
Who my friends are
People say
I am a cheerful lass
With a positive outlook in life
Possessing a bright
And contagious smile
People say
My parents are lucky
To have a child like me
I excel in my studies
A pride to both of them
People say
I was a friendly girl
Others love my company
Easy to get along with
Life of every conversation
People say
So many things about me
Yet they know so little
Their opinions were based
On what I allowed them to see
People will always have
Something to say
But they will
Never
Know about
The jealousy
The thirst
The hunger
The pleading
The prayers
The wishes
The dreams
Both broken
And yet to enter
The mind
And heart
Of this girl
This girl
Who can’t seem
To figure out
Who she really is
So don’t tell her,
Or rather
Me
Who I really am.
