I'd imagine at the start of the underground, all they want to do is get out of there and go home. .All these strange monsters are weird and all they want is hot oden they'll trick Chibita into giving them for free.
But as the story progresses, they get to know how bad monsters have it, even though they want to go home, the monsters do to.
So, as they progress, (Mainly shown in waterfall and/or snowdin) They cut the monsters some slack. You know...not automatically attacking on sight
