Reader's POV

I was petting a cat that i found wandering around the head quarters, it purred into my touch and leaped on my lap as she laid there and began to fall asleep.

i was resting under a tree and luckily i was in a good position so my legs won't be numb and soon myself fell asleep .

Hours Later

Someone shaking my shoulder, i fluttered my eyes open saw who it was and how close their face was.

"M-muichiro! h-h-hi!" i stuttered and i sighed before mentally facepalming

why did i freaking stutter! UGH! i thought as i was about to stand up but remembered the cat sleeping in my lap, i gently pick the cat up careful not to wake it up and held her like a baby.

"What is it muichiro-kun?" i asked as my attention was now on him while i softly pet the cat in my arms

"Oyakata-san wants to see you" he said and left without uttering more words

i stood on my spot dumbfounded before sighing and making my way to oyakata-san's home

after the long walk i finally arrived and gentky knocked on the door, i could hear a faint come in and i opened the door and close it behind my back

"you called for me oyakata-san?" i politely said as i petted the cat

"I am giving you a dangerous mission, i want to keep it a secret between us only. Are you up for it?" he said but he seems to know that i had brought something with me

"And also, did you bring an animal here?" he kindly asked as i froze in my spot

"U-uh y-yes, i'm sorry! i'll put her outside!" i said as i stood up but quickly stop when he said

"no it's okay! She's welcome" he said with a voice as gentle as it can

i smiled back but knowing he can't see it he knew i was smiling

"Now back to what i was saying, you will be fighting the lower demon one" he said but maintaned his gentle voice

My body stiffened, i began to overthink some possibilites that might happen to me

I could die!

i'm way too weak!

what if i don't make it out alive!

what if-

"Y/n, no need to overthink now" he said with a smile which calmed my nerves

"Oh sorry! i heard no one has ever found that demon yet" i said with a hint of concern in my voice

"well, your gonna be the first one then. Your dismissed" he said as i stood up and went out of the door acted like nothing happened

"so what did oyakata-san told you?" said a voice

i flinched and turned around to see who it was and it was none other than muichiro

since when did he care..

i blinked a couple times before answering his question

"well nothing important" i said as i showed him my 'not interested face' and it seems like he got the message and nodded
