- Morning -

- Noah's POV -

I awoke to the sound of sobbing. I jolt up and see Cherry in a corner hugging her knees. I rush over to her and as soon as my hand touched her arm she screamed.

"I'm sorry master! I didn't mean to! Please!" She cried and hugged herself even more. Wait.... Did she just call me master? What kind of fucked up shit did Victor do to this girl!? Still half asleep, I sat down next to her.

"Cherry?" I made sure my voice was calm, low and sweet. Her cries slowly calmed down, so that's something at least. "Can you look at me please?" She slowly lifts her head and for the first time, I am actually seeing her. She's beautiful. Her light brown eyes, though puffy and red from crying, almost glowed against her silky dark chocolate skin. Her hair was long, jet black, and straight, only accentuating her skin, eyes and face. She had the cutest little button nose and her lips... plump and and slightly lighter than her skin tone. I was almost completely lost in bliss when her soft angelic voice broke my trance.

"Master?" Those words snapped me right back, like falling from a plane in a dream and waking up right before you hit the ground.

"Don't call me that." I didn't notice my harsh tone until she cowered back a little. I took a deep breath and composed myself. "Remind her that she's not at Victor's anymore." "Be gentle with her." Saba's voice rang in my head. I need to keep it together. "Cherry, I am not Victor. I don't want you calling me master okay?" She looked quizzically at me.

"Then what do I call you?"

"My name is Noah." I gave her a sweet smile and to my surprise, I got one in return. "Now, can you tell me why you're so upset?" Her smile faded and she tensed back up. She pointed to my arm. I look down and see a few small scratches, reddening and turning to welts. She must have done it in her sleep.

"I didn't mean to! I'm sorry master!" She started to cry and hug herself again. There's that word. That word makes my blood boil. I gently grab her and pull her onto my lap. She's light. Almost too light. She barely has any meat on her bones. Startled, she gasped and lifted her head. Taking the opportunity, I lightly grabbed her chin, making her eyes meet mine. She froze immediately. I could tell she was panicking. Her body started to shake.

"Noah." I repeated my name softly. Almost at a whisper. "And it's alright. I'm not mad." She stared at me. Probably contemplating whether or not she believes me. "I'm not going to hurt you. No one in this house will hurt you. Understand?" As if she sighed in relief, her body relaxes in my arms. "Do you feel better now?" She nods. "How about some breakfast then?" She nods again. Its small, but its progress.

*********

When we get to the kitchen, I see Rom in his usual spot, being his usual grouchy self. The twins and Roman were talking to Yaro. As soon as Cherry saw him she ran up to him and hugged him. He towered over her. He must have been at least six foot three. His giant arms were gentle as they wrapped around her and picked her up in a hug.
