Chapter 4. The Dog That Found Hin

Chavez's POV: I remember the day I found Neko he was hiding in old barn I was in town with John getting some supplies for the ranch and among other things I was walking around and decided to stop for a minute I leaned against the doorway of the liberty stable when I heard a whining sound so I decided to go investigate it I walked towards the source of the sound and that's when I saw him he was laying down in an empty horse stall he was licking his foot as if he was injured or something when he saw me he backed up whimpering I sighed softly and walked over towards him slowly kneeling down in front of him I slowly my hand to him he cautiously sniffed at my hand once he realized that I met no harm towards him he happily licked my hand and crawled over towards me I pulled him onto my lap and held him in my arms I looked at his right foot he a fatal gunshot wound to his right leg I had some medicine to treat his injury I applied it onto the wound as I did he kept trying to brush my hands away

Hold still bud this is going to hurt a little bit but it'll help you I said applying the medicine to the wound

As I applied the medicine he started whining and whimpering he was also shaking like a leaf I did my best to comfort him

Oh easy now bud easy now it's okay shhh I said

Once I got the medicine onto his injury I wrapped it up in a gauze then I sat there until I heard John calling me I gently picked the dog up and carried him towards the buckboard

Where did you find this poor dog Jose? John asked

I found him in the liberty stable he was hurt really bad I put some medicine on his injury I said laying the dog down beside me and draping some blankets over him to keep him warm John climbed into the buckboard and we rode home the dog whined and whimpered softly throughout the whole ride home I held him gently on my lap petting him and cradling him in my arms trying to calm him and keep him safe when we arrived home I gently put the dog into the house and set him by the fireplace and stayed with him until dinner I brought him some food but he wouldn't eat after our usual reading session it was time for bed I brought Neko out to the bunkhouse and set him down beside the fireplace with some warm blankets on him

Goodnight Neko I said gently petting him he whined softly as he watched me make my way towards my bedroom

I walked into my bedroom got ready for bed and climbed into bed and fell asleep and after an hour or two Neko came into my bedroom he whined softly and gently nudged my hand I jolted awake startled at first but then realized it was only Neko he looked at me scared and confused he whined softly and I knew what he was wanting

Okay come on I said patting my bed

Neko happily jumped up onto my bed and curled up next to me I petted his head and kissed him softly and we fell asleep the next morning Neko was the first to wake up and decided to wake me up which I didn't mind I was surprised that he woke me up his upper body had jumped up onto my bed and he started licking my face and whining and nudged me his tail was wagging as he was waking me up

Okay okay bud okay I'm up I'm up thank you bud I said sitting up in my bed

He jumped up onto my bed and nudged me trying to make sure I didn't fall back asleep he licked my face a couple times as well as laid on my lap and wagging his tail the entire time and was wanting to play
