In 1660AD Adil shah sent his general Siddi Jauhar to attack Shivaji's southern border. Siddi's army at panhala fort cut off all the supply sources to the fort. Shivaji tricked Siddi into meeting him and convinced Adil shah that Siddi was a traitor, So Adil shah attacked Siddi Jauhar, while both armies were clashing Shivaji and his 5000 thousand soldiers escaped from panhala fort. Baji Prabhu Deshpande held rear guard with just 700 soldiers and fought bravely till his death while Shivaji reached Vishalgargh safely Baji Prabhu Deshpande known one of the best warriors till this day.
