I allowed my baby her privacy and closed the door but I watched her like a hawk through the glass. She kissed his cheek and took his hand and spoke slowly. She shook her head and made hand gestures with her free hand as a single tear fell. I felt myself frown , but I then noticed Dada's hand tighten around Lai's. "Ooooh dada get upppp" I cried bursting into the room. "Ma you saw" lai cried practically throwing herself into my legs
"Come on Dae , come home" I cried into his chest
He groaned in response "DOCTOR ! NURSE SOMEBAWDY HES UP" I yelled out still crying
"Quiet" he mumbled lowly still never opening his eyes. I paid him no mind as a doctor walked in with a clipboard "he's awake! What's da word" I wasted no time hounding the doctor. He chucked a little bit before parting his lips to speak "I'm not sure yet ma'am , I'm new to the news. We will have to run tests to see how he's doing, I mean it has been about 3 years" he sighed scratching his head "years" Dada asked confused "Well Mr. Alvarez , you've been in a coma for just about three years " the doctor spoke slowly "well he gets points for being responsive and aware....." the doctor dragged jotting down notes on his clip board "except he still hasn't opened his eyes" the doctor sighed "so that knocks him down, we have to test for vegetablism make sure he can move, write, walk, speak in full sentences, obey commands and see if he remembers anything" he continued writing "oh, wow I thought this would've been easier" I sighed looking down fiddling with my acrylics
"Yeah I'm sorry, there's a lot that comes with comas than meets the eye" he simply shook his head slowly
"Yeah" I mumbled now feeling sad "I'm gonna go" I sighed gathering Lai and our things "I'll give you a call once everything is finished and figure out" the doctor smiled warmly shaking my hand "will do" I have a weak smile back. "What's vegetablism" lai asked cluelessly " if uncle dada Has it , it means he can't move at all" I fought back tears as we walked out of the hospital "but he squeezed my hand" she pouted "he's gonna be ok" I scooped her up to put her into her car seat . We rode home in silence , I guess she didn't have anymore questions. But once we got home she laid across the couch and went straight to sleep so I decided to go upstairs and shower. I ran the hot water letting the bathroom steam up while I put Lai in her bed and picked out some pajamas. I showered for about 30 minutes , moisturized my skin and slipped into my knitted short two piece from fashion nova before laying down and calling Rio "yo v it's one Inna morning Cous dis betta be important " he spoke groggily into the phone "mane it's about dada hoe" I sighed rubbing my hand down my face "here I come" he spoke as I heard a bunch of shuffling before he hung up. I wiped my stray tears and went back into the bathroom. I quickly washed my face and threw my curls into two Pocahontas braids , right when I finished Rio knocked on the door. I walked downstairs to open the door revealing a restless Rio. He looked like he hadn't slept in days "you woke me up out a Kush coma punk" he sighed smacking on his gum "but you here now , come in it's cold as a bitch" I crossed my arms rubbing them , stepping to the side. He closed and locked my door and began walking up to my room without another word, I simply followed. I tucked her in and climbed back into my bed next to Rio "I Luh you girl" he mumbled tossing covers over me "I Luh You Too" I yawned getting comfortable before slowly dozing off
