ARIA'S POV
- Present Day -

Every time I breathe I'm in danger of swallowing one of these disgusting bugs that keep buzzing around in my face. I try not to gag every time one collides with my sweaty face.

There's no relief when I breathe anyway. The air is thick and hot and it doesn't funnel down my throat and to my lungs. This arena is so sticky and humid it's incredibly uncomfortable to even walk let alone run through. Low lying bushes don't help either.

We leap over logs and branches along the jungle floor. All four of us get smacked by large leaves that lay in a path. I'm so exhausted already.

Finnick, Katniss, Peeta and I don't stop running for a good long while, trying to create as much distance as possible away from the Careers.

"Let's take a break," I say, slowing down and planting my hands on my knees. I rub my stinging eyes whilst panting heavily. Finnick comes up behind me, placing a hand on my back.

"You okay?"

"Just dandy," I cough out, struggling to get any air. Finnick looks at me worriedly.

"God it's hot. We gotta find fresh water," Peeta speaks up, looking between the trees for any sign of some.

Suddenly 3 cannons go off which scares me slightly.

"Guess we're not holding hands anymore," Finnick laughs out, directing his eyes to Katniss and Peeta. I scowl at him a little. I don't see the need for any of this, especially right now.

"You think that's funny?" Katniss questions bluntly.

"Every time that cannon goes off its music to my ears. I don't care about any of them."

"Good to hear." Katniss pulls out her machete from its sheath. Immediately I stand straighter, my spontoon tight in my hand.

"You wanna face the Career pack alone? What would Haymitch say?" Finnick smirks, his eyes narrowed on Katniss.

"Haymitch isn't here," she responds threateningly.

For some reason I just get this rush of anger and I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm stuck in a bloody arena again even though I shouldn't be. That I should be in District 4 fishing with Finnick in peace as the glow of the setting sun shines upon us. But that's long gone now, and it'll never happen again.

"We don't have time for this! Ugh! Let's just go!" I exclaim loudly with anger before storming off into the brush.

I'm so done with everything right now. I don't need to be sitting her listening to Finnick and Katniss bicker when I could have very minimal time left alive.
