Sage, despite being "care-free", was always worried about what others thought of her. The perception of her through others constantly bothered her. She never really did anything for herself. Sage was always worried. One wrong move and she could easily be the most hated person on the planet.
In contrast to this, Mattia couldn't care less what the general public perceived him as. He couldn't give two shits because at least he knew he was happy or he was doing the right thing.
