What do you feel when you've found the one? Or at least who you perceive, hope, and wish who the one? What do you want to feel?
At the mere age of seven and a half, Sage asked her mom one night, "Mommy, what does love feel like?"
And Sage's mother sat there, stunned. Because in all honesty, she has never found that type of love. She never experience a love that was devouring and all-consuming. The type of love where you felt like you were flying. The type of love that doesn't care about the in-betweens because the journey is good enough. Sage's mom swept the hanging hair behind her ear, and whispered to her, "I don't know how to describe it," maybe she had been in love before, "But it feels like you're floating, like it's only you and them. Your heart feels funny, like it's glowing."
Sage outgrew a lot of things—sweaters, socks, shoes, people. The one thing she never really outgrew was that. She pinned herself to the concept that love needed to feel like that.
And In every way possible, Sage Alannah Concepcion did not love Mattia Polibio. She knew that, but truly convincing herself that was the hard part. She knew it wasn't love, but it felt like it was.
That was the third thing Sage liked about Mattia: the way he made her feel.

There it was once again—the butterflies. Every time he had called her "Sagey", she felt something in her heart. She felt this sensation in her heart where though it did drop, there was an uplifting feeling of butterflies that circled around the tight cage. It felt like her heart was running. She couldn't help but smile. She did like Mattia, but love? She wasn't so sure about that one.
