The girls gathered in a small pile beside the bin of trash that was set aflame. They looked almost exactly the same other than the fire in Apep's eyes. "Tell us again papa, about mama," They pleaded, curled in one another's arms. They looked to be around 9 years old, but their past told a different story.
Wyt sat in front of them, decades of struggle written on his face. Only one thing ever drove his desires since he was risen from the dead as a joke. Veneramur. He sat on stacked crates whose contents had already been diminished, life was easier on the run. After a few decades you learn it's best to keep on the move and not settle. He cracked his knuckles as he looked down to his two daughters, the story replaying itself on repeat in the reflection of his eyes.
"Alright... one last time before we go for the last snake." He nodded, poking at the fire to get it going before he began the story of how it all began."They call it the Great Escape. Demons from all over clawed their way to the surface world for a life they deserved more than any other! It was made possible by a queen, she threw down her existence to save everyone from themselves. She was tall, beautiful, wild pink hair that fluttered in the dark abyss of Indiligen. The only light within that wretched place. She released those who were cast out unfairly, but not until after she gifted the two of you to me. The strongest person I ever new."
Apep could see it before her the hissing snakes of a great leader. No matter how young she was she could never forget the site of her greatest admiration exploding into a million tiny snakes that slithered out through a breach in the wall of their world. There had been a great flash before all the monsters she grew up with escaped through that portal into this world. The same portal her father threw her and her sister through, to find and gather the million of snakes who had emerged from Venemur's fallen corpse. Under the stampede of feet slithered hundreds of parasitic vipers. He continued, "Even without abilities she had been so strong she brought down an entire mob single-handedly. I can still hear their cries of terror as she sliced them into pieces." A lustful, evil smile spread from ear to ear on his face. Reminiscing on something the two would hopefully never understand.
Ravana looked nervously between the two, they seemed so eager for a world she couldn't remember. On their adventures she had seen so many children playing outside in their yards with one another, that was her only desire. Though she looked just like Apep, they were far from the same. Apep wanted destruction and revenge, while Ravana wanted peace and quiet. The greatest difference was that Ravana was the true murderer. It was time to get their mother back for both their dreams to come true. Veneramur, the chaotic half-breed who cared only for herself.
