ONCE UPON A TIME... Sarah Rogers, the kindest nurse a patient could ask for, gave birth to a baby boy. His name would be Steven later, though she didn't know that yet. Where normal babies wailed, Steven didn't cry when he was finally pushed out. He didn't even whimper. No sound, nothing. Another nurse, who had been wrapping him a pastel blue blanket after birth, almost dropped him out of excitement, yet to her bafflement, he still remained eerily silent.
