The sun was shining brightly and there were cicadas cricketing. It was the summer of the year, and there were kids outside to play. A kid with short blonde hair and heterochromic blue and green eyes, wearing a white collared shirt, black shorts, and blue shoes was running to a place.

His facial expression was excited, he was panting as he stopped and finally went to the place he wanted to go to...

Card Capital.

His smile was bright as he went inside the shop.

"Hello!" He greeted, and he saw an adult woman with long and tied purple hair and blue eyes. She was wearing normal clothes and had an apron of Card Capital.

The woman smiled at him, and the young boy smiled back. He glanced and saw a young girl with long brown hair and blue eyes, she was wearing a blue dress and she went to approach him.

"I've been waiting for you, Kouichi!" The girl said.

"A-Ah, sorry for making you wait, Ayame!" The boy named Kouichi replied.

"Shall we play Vanguard?" Ayame asked him, and Kouichi nodded excitingly.

"Sure!"

As the two kids went to sit on a chair and played, the scenery turns to white.

Ring! Ring!

…

Ring! Ring!

A hand slammed on the button of the digital alarm clock, a teenager with short blonde hair and heterochromia opened his eyes and got out from the blankets.

He yawned and sat on his bed as he took his phone out.

'What was that dream? Why am I dreaming of my past?' He thought to himself as he opened his phone.

6:30 AM

Suddenly his tired, sleepy eyes were wide open in surprise.

"Oh shoot, I'm about to be late!" He exclaimed and quickly got out from the bed and took a bath, he wore his clothes after some minutes of drying his hair.

He quickly ran down to the dining room and saw his family already eating breakfast.

"Good morning!" He greeted and sat beside his little sister.

"Good morning, brother!" His little sister, named Ai smiled at him.

"Good morning, Kouichi-kun." His father, Aichi Sendou greeted him as well, and Kouichi smiled back at them.

"Where's mother?" Kouichi asked.

"Ah, she went to the kitchen. She forgot the drinks!" His father replied.

Kouichi nodded and started to eat.

His mother, Kourin arrived and she was holding a pitch of water. She puts it on the table and sat beside Aichi.

"Kouichi, since you're going to Miyaji Academy, you need to do well, okay?" Kourin told him and Kouichi nodded.

"Don't worry about Kouichi-kun, Kourin-san. He's gonna do well, of course!" Aichi told her, and Kourin only nodded.

"Mom," Kouichi spoke as he gulped down his food. "You don't have to worry about me, what happened before was the past. This is a new beginning that I'm taking, I'll not be a coward just like back then."

"I believe in you then, Kouichi." Kourin replied and smiled at her son.

As they all finished eating, Kouichi went to take his blue contact lens and put it on his right eye where his green eye is. He always had to put it on since middle school due to the fact that he was bullied because of his heterochromia.

"Kouichi, Ai! Don't forget your lunch boxes!" Kourin said and gave the lunch boxes to the two.

"Is Eiichi-nii gonna call us later?" Ai asked.

"Yep! Don't worry, he's busy with school in Hong Kong, so he'll call us at night." Kourin said.

"Yay!" Ai was in joy and smiled widely, while Kouichi only looked sternly.

Kouichi then left with Ai and they both went to Miyaji Academy.

Kouichi was in the hallway, he found his classroom and he slowly opens the door. He saw that there are students inside already.

Kouichi sat at an empty seat, it was on the second to the final row. He sighed in relief when his classmates seem to not notice him.

The class started after a few minutes, when the teacher came in.

All of them started to introduce themselves one by one, and Kouichi was just staring at the window. All his classmates speaking were just background noises at this point, he could feel himself sleepy.

"I'm Kaoru Ishida."

…

"My name is Watanuki Hirose, it's nice to meet you all."

And after a few minutes, it was his turn.

Kouichi stood up quickly, "M-my name is Kouichi Sendou." He said and bowed.

His classmates then looked at him curiously, maybe it's because of his stuttering. Or maybe his surname.

Surely it's his surname.

Kouichi quickly sat down and he sighed. He looked down, and he just kept quiet. He continues to look at the window and wondered.

'I haven't seen Ayame… she said she's going to Miyaji but…' he let out a sigh and just shrugged his shoulders. 'Oh well…'

The school bell rang, and Kouichi wants to go home. He quickly took his bag and was about to stand when a guy blocked his way.

"Hey, hey there." The guy said. He has a messy red hair and yellow eyes. "I heard your name is Kou-something Sendou. That name sound familiar, doesn't it?"

"Y-yeah... W-what do you want?" Kouichi spoke in fear. Who is this guy?

"Let's fight," The guy replied and grinned.

"S-sorry... I-I don't resort to violence..."

"Huh?! Did I say anything about fist fighting?! Fight me with this!" The guy pulled a Vanguard deck from his pocket.

"I, Kaoru Ishida challenges you to a cardfight!"

"Eh?!"
