The rain pours down the tiny windows, streaking down like the tears on my face.
"Mom, does Uncle Renji have depression?" I hear my ten-year-old niece ask Rukia, with worry in her voice.
"I don't know, Ichika. But whatever he's suffering from, he needs our help." Rukia explains. She nods, and walks over to me.
"Hey, kiddo. You've grown a little since the last time I saw you." In reality, the last time I saw her was a month ago, but Rukia said she's at that age where she starts to grow fast. (Preteenhood. Best years of my life.)
"Thanks. Mom said you weren't feeling well, and I wanted to help you feel better."
"Aw, you're sweet. You're making me feel a little better just by being here, ya know that?" I hug her tightly, and I feel her warm smile dry some of the sadness away.
